In case you have Q4Max's latest version and the map Galang and you still get that freaky error, I suppose the best thing to do is sacrifice something to the gods above and dance in the rain.

I was told that you actually need all the maps included in this URL to view the demo. You're most likely missing the TDM maps Better Than Nothing and Gibbing Pool.

For whatever the reason, it seems that you need the same exact maps to play the demo as you would to play on the server the demo was recorded in.

Shows yet again how brilliantly programmed this game is...

j4rno is a finnish Quake 4 player, he's currently doing very good at the 1v1 EuroCup.

For some reason the guy has no sponsor so he wasn't at the CPL Winter. Personally, I think he'd deserve to get to some CPL events.

He used to play ut2004, in the end of that game he become really good, and as you can see he now plays Q4 and seems to do really good.

i've seen both demos
he's very good, he has good aim, nothing special. you wont see some crazy shit, but he plays smart and times well.

Bah I cant get either demo to work, when I load up galang it says something about cant spawn a railgun_entity

And when I load teh fleet demo it cant spawn a hyperblaster.

Cant even load the demo if I set force to 1.

It then goes on to say missing one pak file. Spent like 30 minutes dl loads of map files from various sources still the same.

I was getting that same error, the problem that fixed it for me was the following file xbmdm1beta6 was in .zip format from that http://q4.own.ee/che/ site.

Convert it to pk4 file then worked, hopefully it will for you if you try that.

it's not in a zip file, you're using a crappy browser. But yeah adding all these maps to the q4max folder will work.

NO map should be aded to q4max folder but to q4base !!

Just rename the .zip file to .pk4

ex: demoname.zip [or demoname.rar] to..
... demoname.pk4

pk4 is just an uncompressed zip renamed

Far out, those games were fantastic!

Upload the fleet demo why don't you, it's brilliant. Possibly the most intense game I've watched since Nomadic vs Cooller on it @ CPL. Both players showed fantastic aim and tactics on it, not to mention Galang.

Props to Jarno aswell, I myself have never witnessed a game of yours but after that showing I have no doubts in your abilities. Your confidence was quite possibly your best asset. In terms of aim and style you remind me much of cooller.

It's been a long while since I've watched a game by someone not in the upper echelons play with such purpose as you showed, esp on Fleet. Keep up the good work mate. [+]!

on both (well, all demos) demos, whats wrong? :) Anyone?

Try getting all the maps listed, and also someone suggested typing the following in the console before playing demo: 'demo_enforceFS 1'

when i try to rename it all i get is

tox.pk4.zip ...it does nothing to the zip

For me it all started working when I simply moved the demos in /q4max/demos -folder, and more importantly : changed the 'demo_enforceFS 1' in Q4MAX folder's quake4config (not just in baseq4)
