Yeah that was some very nice play to watch.. ^^ fun to see cooller go from defensive mode to just controlling the map. Also amazing to see how toogoood could still keep the frag diff down, even though cooller had maplock on this tight map.
with enfore demo you need to have all the pak files, that the server had, when the demo was recorded.
For me the missing one, was bliptourney1.pk4 (not pro-bliptourney), I think.
You can open the demo file with a text editor. The first lines, list all the pak files, that were used. Try to download them and put them in your quake4/q4base Folder, then run the demo again with enforce demo.
Probabyl! After all that time playing pk especially. I don't think you can get further away from quake-style movement than pk besides cs. All the angles are reversed, needs a much higher sens ... just a mess. :d
Switching from a movement-centered to an aim-centered game is rough too. q3 -> q4 is an easy transition, q3 -> pk -> q4 is a change in lifestyle. :o
Err I think you wanted to reply to me in another thread ;)
Check Ztrider and Vo0, both top players in PK, they adjusted to Q4 just fine. Vo0's movement is getting only better just like in PK. If those players can do it so can Fafal1ty and anyone else for that matter.
don't tell me about a game which managed to gather at least twenty players once!
it sucked and almost everybody know that simple fact.
If u don't, wake up
ok, i'll try to explain better, coz afaik it has.
If q4 was such a faggame, why does everybody play it? coz it's new?
but so was pk two years ago! and it never gathered so many players.
and If pk was so wonderful, i guess some would actually play it now.
That's the point, Quake 4 is played by a fraction of gamers (800 vs. 3500 for Quake 3 at the same time) and most of the pros hate it. In other words, exactly what happened to the 'other' game you're talking about.
is so funny, its not like in athor sports were the best have respect from each other, in quake4 the top players all hate each other and make provocant comments. ;D
cooller is the only one to do so, and he partly does it because now everyonr is expecting this from him.
Who isn't looking forward his next silly fucking useless comment?
I don't which one I prefer, cooller or a human robot who doesn't express anything...
you havent watched much sports have you? Saw some of the games in australian open and it was just constant, nonstop cussing and moaning, at least a couple of times per game the players stretched their arms out looking completely baffled at the referee.
In gaming at least everyone goes out drinking when all matches are played.
Actually in comparison to some of the swedes, his movement ist still very underdeveloped. But up to now, it doesn't seem to matter much. Maybe in a few months, when there are set maps that will be played in the world tour and everybody knows them in and out, the better movement will start to be the deciding factor.
Does it matter in Q4 how developed your movement is? and how do we define such a thing? Criteria?
Cooller can dodge rockets in a firefight better than anybody that I've seen. He has great situational awareness. Whether he can lick his butt and slide on the ground, all the while blowing his nose is hardly a point worth making about how 'developed' someones movement is.
That gimmicky shit means close to nothing in Q4, although it does have some merit and value.
I once asked myself the same in Q3, fooki, z4muz and cooller with their fast and smooth movement, but then once I put a some effort into it I noticed how much it helps.
Same likely applies for Q4, if you're in a firefight and need to run, he who can pull a quick circle jump in an enclosed area without clipping walls will do a lot better than the person who can't. Also when rushing, (cooller was so good at this) it makes all the world of difference.
-- That gimmicky shit means close to nothing in Q4, although it does have some merit and value.
Exactly. It has some merit and value, and my point was that it will then become a deciding factor when the maps are so well known, that the players aren't surprised anymore by anything the opponent does. At that point, a close match could be decided by sheer speed of movement, because somebody reaches a critical armor/mega a tick earlier. I personally disagree with your point that it means close to nothing, the ability to take the full speed of 2-3 strafejumps around very sharp corners is very powerfull in my oppinion.
Btw: why the harsh tone ? I personally love coollers style, so no point in bashing me for my observations.
"its not like in athor sports were the best have respect from each other, in quake4 the top players all hate each other and make provocant comments. ;D " - what about tayson vs holifild, when mike did eat his opponent =))
may be quake agressive thing like boxing... why just only cooller i remember how happy was toxic on eswc2005dm6game...=)) and what he did saying for 15 minutes hehe, cooller angry after that on sweden =)) but yes its cooller nature - on wcg2002 he said to if22 its not inet(if22 won him on c58nvite) - what i wanna to say, "hmm quake is very serious thing for him imho more then need " (c)lexer about cooller may be its true... and its so bad for cooller that he allways choose stupid style for his comments =)) polosatiy's "i'm controlling you like a girl" more times better =))or lexer's "do you wanna to talk about this c'mon baby" after he catch rocket in face...
was really looking forward to a game between these two guys, and I also like swelt's map, but damn that's some fucking boring demo here. it's even more fun to watch the rather 'bad' players (compared to former standards) in Q3 Nationscup than this eternal rocket spam with close to nothing else happening..
I thought this was a good demo. Toogood played very well, but cooller is just too good on phrantic. I think Toogood would've beaten anyone else on phrantic playing like that. ggs to both, but I missed coollers comments. Would'nt mind if someone would tell me wtf he said.
Well I'm quite sure it was a high level demo for Q4, but somehow it was just boring to watch (compared to the OSP and CPMA stuff I used to watch). I only got Q4 installed to watch demos at times, and even this good demo just doesn't really excite me.
hehe you must read coollers comment about this game on c58 - he said that playing online is boring and if they play on lan all would be more easy for cooller... but yea he said that it was good game - and is some moments - only his better game conception feeling save cooller for life...
Fat may have made the esport world the most well-known and gave a lot back to gamers, but as far as skills go, Cooller is the best damn FPS gamer so far.
