You are right, but Scooby knows that as well. For a long time he played in one of the best clans in the world (Q2) - sYnthesis, and he was as good dueler as purri and damiah. Then he moved to USA, and now he says that there is much lower skill level than in EU, and everything is so different :-)
You see, certain musicians once had the idea to put sex and violence in music. It was a big hit, and they all got rich. In today's world, we know it as 'rap music'. Little do people know, there used to be another kind of rap music. A great kind... a kind free from commercialization. Most people don't even know of this music. All they know is the commercialized version of it.
Don't let the same thing happen to video games. We were all doing the competitive thing before any pro-business came along. I've been doing it my whole life... whether hanging around the house with my friends, competing with the regulars at the arcade, or playing in online leagues and ladders. The money is great, but don't let it ruin video games.
The commercialization of rap music saw to an increase in their exemplification of sex and violence?
Hmm, I think that's a bit backward. Almost every human has innate tendencies toward both sex and violence. They are predisposed to these mechanisms in various ways, for purpose of survival (of both the individual and the family or species).
In music videos and radio, I don't notice a strong uprising in violence, though sex has become increasingly more prevalent -- but it hasn't been anything of serious concern. The albums themselves tend to contain the more provocative content, which could be attributed to one individual's exploitation of commercialization, and not the commercialization itself.
I believe that hip hop was originally sort of a niche style between a small group of people, and so it stands to reason that, as with any thing else of culture, we are driven toward our tendencies to express our intimate thoughts, perhaps as a result of the correlations between culture and these thoughts.
Sex and violence are cheap exploitations of our reproductive system and our hunter instincts. So basically, only a dumb animal would fall for them anyway...
Maybe they aren't being exploitive... consumers just want to kill each other all the time and have sex all the time. And the consumers don't even know why they want to kill each other and have sex. I'll tell you why.. it's part of your survival instincts. Pain, pleasure, fear, sexual attraction... these are all tied to the instinct of survival (and those are just a few).
You should all learn the entire scope of your survival instincts, that way no one can exploit them or take advantage of them. You have to understand, these systems work subconsciously, for the most part. But when you understand what they are, and how they work, you can change them. Like fear of heights... it's there to tell you, "Don't jump off a mountain.". But, once you know it's just trying to keep you alive by not letting you jump off a mountain, you can do away with it, because you know jumping off a mountain = bad. And sometimes, these systems malfunction. And you have to recognize it when they do... so it doesn't fuck you or someone else over. The more you know about your survival instincts, and other subconscious systems, the better off you will be.
