Carmac one of the key figures who helped turn gaming into esports. Before the stages and the cameras, he was part of the Unreal Tournament community a place where passion, rivalry, and raw competition shaped the future. His journey from fragging to founding is one of the most authentic stories in esports history.

Imagine this - the ability to play your favourite arena shooter game... IN BROWSER, no download needed!
It's not an invite only closed beta from 2008, but apparently a Docker container.

I put together a prototype for an online multiplayer FPS game which revolves around real world factions and divisions.
Obviously everything would look a lot better with dedicated talent, but the main idea behind it was to have a game where players align to their real world alliances and do battle against their real world enemies.
I don't know if anything will come of it, its just something I wanted to put out there as I worked on it in my spare time.
My main question is, and trolling aside, do you like the idea of playing a game where your team mates are people you are aligned with in the real world on big world issues and your opposition are people who you dislike?
And of course it would have FFA type things too, but it makes more sense as a team game.
It really daunting looking at the visual quality of games like BF6, but its 400 million dollar game with about 6,000 staff.
I'm personally bored of so many games these days, so I wanted to bypass legacy rulesets for how games are made.
Arbitrary teams and factions etc, that don't really mean much, and bring in low level emotions and then build a game around that.
Does anyone know if the WMO has a JST connector on the PCB for the cable or are the cables soldered in there? I would like to do the paracord mod but if it's not a matter of switching the cable and you have to solder it then I'll have to find someone skilled that knows how to do it. I have heard some models have the cable soldered permanently and others have a JST connector but isn't clear.
Ivo is right. Its incredibly stupid that Vo0 is going. I like Vo0 I really do, but Ivo won.
And Vo0 hasn't even had any acheivements in Q3. So why is he even given a birth? Next we will see countries sending WC3L teams to go play CS....
Not to mention I would be pissed too. You train and train then use some tactics you might want to save until the grand finals. Then you find out the player you used them on is going to be going with you.
If events can just pull a switcheroo on players like this and get away with it, then no wonder the GGL and CPL have both not paid certain monies to certain players.
I know a lot of you on ESR hate Ivo because he is like the ToD of the dueling side of eSports. The bottle smash and constant 'whining'.
But seriously...if this was you and this was your job you wouldn't be pleased either. So save the ignorant comments about how Ivo whines and whatnot.
So he's upset that the organizers of an event decided to offer an additional spot to a player they were impressed by and thought should be in their finals. Nice.
doesn't matter. he's a great dueller and he does well in vq3. maybe he won't stand against the REAL opponents, but with his history in Q3/PK he deserves to get seeded 1st in the quali and an invite to the masters.
Just like toxic should've signed up to show how much of an AWESOME dueller he is.
he should learn a lesson from Vo0 really.
Did u see how good rat did at that 1 vq3 event he attended ?? i great dm player is a great dm player, most of teh best q3 players all came from qw or q2
BTW
whether vo0 is coming or not actually doesnt matter.
watch his demo in VQ3...bad lg, bad rg...
and his opponent if-22? is the guy raped by rocketboy years ago??
oh, vo0, dont come to San Jose, or u'll be raped....many times..
I watched them too. It's not about movement or weapon skill, for the most part (you can win with those, but you have to be really, exceptionally good, and he isn't that)). His timing and tactics are utter shit. Same goes for if-22.
In Vo0 vs if-22 game, they played pro-nodm9 on about 2001's skill level. they played ztn3tourney1 on about 2002's skill level. if-22 managed to bring the skill level up to 2003 or 2004's standard of play on pro-q3dm6.

bad lg? bad rg? are we talking about the same Vo0?
And toxic raped cooller in q3 once, doesnt mean he could do it again:D
I'm not pissed that he's going. In fact it's pretty cool that he gets a spot, he's fun to watch.
..and yea there is some lame e-drama going on.
Neither of those opinions affect the fact that it's generally wrong to alter the prize structure of a tournament _after_ the tournament has completed. So, I had to vote 'Yes'
Congrats to Vo0 for getting a spot to the finals. Vo0 has tons of potential in any deathmatch game, it's a matter of how much he practices that will dictate how well he does in San Jose.
That being said, forever needs to get his head out of his ass. Vo0 definitely deserved the first seed, and more than likely, forever would not have qualified. He is not very good at vq3 and in general, he is poor in tournament play.

You're a nice guy and all but, what the hell are you talking about?
Forever's perhaps not top in vq3, but he's at least above decent.
And how can you say that he is poor in tournament play? what exactly do you mean by that?
In a way that is what he means. He is saying Ivo can be a great player with a lot of potential, however his attitude in tournament play will always be an obstacle making it hard to predict him as a winner.
I think he means that Ivo's complaints aren't justified. He is acting in a manner that is saying (at least from what I can tell) that if he did attend the event, he would've at least got 2nd, and in turn one of the "hidden" spots.
That is a shot at Vo0's abilities and skills, which many people perceive as childish/e-drama.
If they gave the ticket to Vo0 only because he's such cool and fun guy I think its wrong. If they decided to give it to whoever placed 2nd I think its OK.
that would be my point too..because deciding to give someone a spot just because he is "xyz" in tournament organization of that scale is simply wrong..but if it's just 'correcting' a mistake and it would be an invite for whoever placed second then it's ok
forever is a faggot whiner piece of shit. He sucks and would have lost anyways if he went. So obviously he was too pussy to attend in the first place and needs to stfu and get back to blowing guys in the alley.
the fact of the matter is if it were anyone else besides voo taking second, regardless of their performance, they would not have been invited. i am 95% sure of this, and that is why i voted yes. gg.
since you don't know the admins and obviously don't consider that if-22 said that the admins didn't now they could send a second player without extra costs until he told them I am 100% sure you can't be 95% sure...
More people at the finals the merrier as far as i am concerned.
Personally i dont see VoO competing near the top of vq3, but if hes willing to pay the ticket and at least give it a shot then where is the basis for complaint.
so much crap about all this. Have never seen any achivements in Q3 nor by if22 neither by Voo. But still can remember moaning vs fox on eswc, game vs rocketboy. They both'd be just like freeslots on the final, or maybe could stand against, f.e. Egypt(could be really interesting :)), max that I can expect scores like 2 to 1 with good players - so forever was wright at least when tried to exclude attendence of such on the final.
maybe they just announced there was only one spot because they didn't want forever to attend specifically and were planning on giving second place an invite the whole time
