why do you see enforced pro settings as a problem?

They were introduced because that is what was wanted. It more closely matches q3 tdm play, but you have the added advantage of dropping weapons that improves upon vq3 tdm imo.

I'd love to see CTF but from a realistic and competitive viewpoint 2v2 probably offers the most amount of teams that can compete with eachother on a high and prestige level.

first I voted tdm, but after a second thought I changed it to 2on2. Just because of the maps: ztn & t6 are great for it, whereas tdm is stuck with boring dm6 & 7

I have to say that unfortunately I don't really have a clue how to play a team based Quake mode but from a spectators point of view I think that CTF or 2v2 would be the most interesting to watch.
CTF in particular is great to watch, whenever an attacker touches the flag you sweat the flagrun like you would if a soccer player would bring the ball deep into the opponents half + there are more decent maps which means that viewers wouldn't see the same maps over and over again and, I might be wrong on that though, it could mean that the teams that compete at a top level actually like the mode and stick to it, therefore we wouldn't see as many "duelstar" team ups that fall apart right after the cup leaving the community not as active as it was during the cup (PK and Q4 all over again).
2v2 would be nice because the skill density would be higher among the top teams which means we could even see interesting matches in group stages whereas there wouldn't be nearly as many interesting matches in TDM or CTF + there are more maps suited for 2v2 than TDM.
As I said I don't really know a whole lot about team based modes but this is how I feel as a spectator. I enjoyed watching Quakecon's CTF tournament a lot although there haven't been a lot of interesting matches but I guess that would be a different story online where teams wouldn't have to fly in to compete in a tournament.

Ahh I see, the QL timesettings is probably one of the worst things in QL for sure :D

Give 20mins for any teamplay setting
and 15mins for duels ofc, 10 mins matches are so shitty to make a comeback on.
