The Association of Gaming Professionals released the second video of their classic Quake 3 matches yesterday. This time Alison "Trillan" Suttles is on the microphone to comment the ESWC 2004 Final between USA and Sweden on decider map hub3areaq3 where Magnus "fox" Olsson faced the highly favorite John "ZeRo4" Hill.
Tonight Fragster released an interview with the most popular man behind Games-Services and ESWC. David "R0cK3r" Donschen could talk with Matthieu Dallon about the Games-Services' bankrupt, the business model they used, the missing prize money from past events and the hypothetical future of the ESWC.
Do you think that we can see an ESWC event in the near future?
M. Dallon: Considering the necessary time for a potential trade-in and then, the minimum time to sale sponsorships offers and to produce the event, we shall wait until the end of the year.
The full interview is available in English on Fragster.de. Also the same author wrote an in-depth article, "The End of a Great Dotcom Idea", covering the situation surrounding the GS bankrupt.

The Association of Gaming Professionals announced the released of their first classic Quake 3 match yesterday. The idea is very simple: each Wednesday they will release a video of a must-see match with audio commentary from djWHEAT to revive the most exciting encounters of the Quake 3 history.
This first classic covers the ESWC 2005 Finals between Anton "Cooller" Singov and Paul "CZM" Nelson and can be watched on agptour.com (or directly on YouTube with playlist).

The 8 players invited to the Quake 3 1v1 EMS4 are now known, as well as the groups and the schedule of the tournament. I would like to thank all of you who joined the qualifier cups and sent us your applications. We sure know there are still some good names on our waiting list in case of early drops!
The tournament will start next week, and all matches will be pre-forced to Sundays at 12:00 CST. All matches will be played as bo3 using the ESWC style map pick.
I thought I would share my Q3 CPMA servers list. I won't include passwords but if some server admins are okay with it, I will add some.
Most of these will have VQ3 on default gameplay, and some will have CPM. But all of these should allow gameplay vote (if not, just point them in the comments).
If you know some cool servers that are missing from that list, please feel free to add them in the comments.
The 4 qualifiers cups for the Quake 3 EMS4 are now over with the fourth and last one played last Sunday. With strenx, unity, l1nkin and Hawk, now 16 players out of the 24 who will participate in this 4th season are known.
The last 8 players will be picked on applications and will be announced later. If you want to apply and get one of the 8 invitations, the deadline has just been extended to Thursday 23rd of April at midnight. The number of emails we received until now is tragically low, so don't hesitate!
The Quake 3 EMS4 is an online european tournament. It will feature 4 groups of 6 players and a playoff stage. Each participant will have to play one bo3 match per week. The cash prize breakdown is as following: 1st 450€, 2nd 200€ and 3rd 100€.
The last qualifier for the Quake 3 EMS 4 will start tomorrow afternoon at 08:00 CST and will grant 4 slots to compete in the new EMS season. Last Sunday was held the 3rd Spontangames.de Duel Cup after a failed 2nd edition. 32 players went through a single elimination bracket and the final standings are as following:

3rd. Tomas "doj" Jonson
4th. Marcel "Marcel" Wcislowski
The third qualifier for the Q3 1v1 EMS4 took place this last sunday and saw 28 players signed up. Once again a 1st group stage, a 2nd group stage and then the first round of the playoff were needed to get the top4 duelers who are now qualified. Here they are:
Marcel "k1llsen" Paul
Grégory "falcuma" Ollivier
Daniel "[a1r-r41d]" Götell
Miloš "Zubb" Zubal
Daniel "[a1r-r41d]" Götell

The Qualifier #4 was planned for this next Sunday the 12th, but is now delayed until Sunday 19th of April. Note that the deadline for the invitations applications still is the 12th of April.
It has been 6 months since the QQC admins team caught Jordi "Sombra" Orteu cheating (with him revealing this information by sending his endgame screenshots showing that a wallhack and a radar were being used). After more than 1400 comments, this case slowly faded away and disappeared in time. Sombra was never seen since then. We all thought that the fact he cheated forced him to leave the quake scene for good and we'll never see him again. We were wrong.
This morning Ondrej "Legie" Konecny received a judicial notice saying that he needs to appear in Prague's court on the 27th of April in the matter of: (wording)
"Complaint towards the subject www.quakequickcup.com in the matter of suspicion of committing the following crimes: false allegation, utter libel, damage to the good name."
It's definitely a shocker for the entire QQC admins team as it seems Sombra took this matter much more seriously than we all expected. We'll bring you more information on the 27th.

Lately Sam "shagrath" McCafferty from SK-Gaming managed to get his hands on Markus "djWHEAT" Graham for a deep interview. It's so long that he even has to release it in two parts. The main reason being that Markus talks a lot about: his shows, pro-gaming organizations, e-sport, money, consoles, communities, sponsors, South Korea and so much more:
On your show you've said, "For too long, esports has been out of the hands of the community." Could you elaborate on that?
[...] Organizations have almost been scared of the entities that they are trying to service. Would you want to disclose everything to a community that you KNOW is going to rip you apart? Esports was taken out of the hands of the community, as a result of the community, however, it's within our power to take it back, but it's not going to happen by being a bunch of negative Nancy's.
This loud individual will speak his mind about the CGS in what will be a juicy second part of that converse which is due to be released tomorrow. For now you can already read the first part on SK-Gaming.com.

This morning on Spiegel.de some German dude named Von Mathias Hamann announced that AMD will stop sponsoring e-sport organizations such as SK-Gaming and the WCG (no more pro-gamers at CeBIT this year). This probably concerns Frag Dominant and x6tence as well.
If you can't understand a word from Goethe's language, I suggest you to visit mymym.com or gotfrag.com for more informations on the drama.

When the rules for the ESWC 2009 season have been announced, we could see a majority of comments criticizing the fact that the map list is still the same each year after each year. The ESWC policy regarding rules changes has always been clear: they will always try not to alter them too much to keep a stable ground under the players' feet. The map list is of course part of these rules.
However I heard the Games-Services staff is seriously considering to tweak it for the current season and some players already gave them their opinions on that matter. So I add the idea to run a poll to get some sort of feedback from the community. This won't be anything affiliated with ESWC, just a regular poll on ESR for the sack of generating a massive amount of "discussion" between civilized people.
The idea would be to replace one or two maps from the current map list (pro-q3tourney4, pro-q3dm6, ztn3tourney1, hub3aeroq3, pro-nodm9) with something new. ztn3tourney1 and hub3aeroq3 are well appreciated and shouldn't be pushed away for now. So only 3 maps would be candidate for removal: pro-q3tourney4, pro-q3dm6 and pro-nodm9. And the 2 new maps would consist of pukka3tourney2 and pukka3tourney5.
So what do you think: Would you change the current map list? Would you keep pro-q3tourney4 and pro-q3dm6 and replace pro-nodm9 with pukka3tourney2?
Here is how you should vote:
- First choose only one option between "No change", "Replace one map" and "Replace two maps"
- Then make up your favorite scenario with the rest of the options. If you choose "Use another new map", you should state which map in comments.
Unless you chose "No change", you should select 4 options in total.
Informations about pukka3tourney2 and pukka3tourney5:
The semi finals are now over! The final and the match for the 3rd rank will be as following (schedule will be added ASAP):
Final: kgb & walter versus bLt & griffin Bronze final: plague & whaz versus cha0ticz & hoens
All matches are broadcasted on GTV and some may get a shoutcasting coverage, it will be known at game time. Again, the MVDs will be available shortly after the matches on quakescene.com.
Final game of the Russian Q3 February 2v2 Online tournament: LaMz versus MiEL-GAMiNG.
Lineups: que?tion / k1llmaster and unity / zyv
Map order: ztn3dm, pro-q3tourney7 (for fun)
