GTR will come with so many new features and changes, I can't count them all here..
Just to name a few:

Uncountable code optimizations to improve performance, stability and network traffic.

New playerlean (not q4 1.4.2 style, way better), it is actually useful now.

Q3 style footsteps, no ugly footsteps when strafing left/right.

Completely rewritten a lot of things from
scratch to improve performance and add more options:
- New menu with all settings you could want to change including quickinfos for most of the settings, a cool new ingame browser and much more.
- New scoreboard system to remove the lag when opening it and improve performance.
- New hud system, which eases creation of new huds, custom huds available via hud_style, including 4 huds to choose from: gtHud, classicHud, ospHud, cpmaHud. And a lot of new options so hud writers have more comfort, like native support for railsafe colors. (there is a color value calculated and a floating point number which shows how many railhits you can take)
- More
comfortable chatting features.

GTX (GameType eXtreme), a new
gamemode with
cpm like movement.

Better weaponswitch time in GTR & GTX, the time needed to switch is now faster and equal on all weapons.
( BaseQ4 gamemode stays original as always).

Support for
movie creation mod.
- A small
mappack featuring 5 midair maps and a couple of dm/tdm maps.

Traineemodes (one weapon only games,
midair,
instagib and
defrag/freestyle) improved and made gamemode specific.
- Improved support for
custom gamemodes.
And we are very proud to announce, that we now have an
excessive gamemode included, which has been written by the authors of the original quake 3 excessive plus.cfg ( flex1'ko, hq'ko and mow.Q! )
And the famous
k[] clan (killing obsession) is going to create a Q4 excessive plus community based on GTR. Soon there is going to be more information on this topic.
We are currently looking for help on both GTR and the Q4 excessive community:
The excessive community is in need of a webmaster who is able to create a page based on CMS.
The GTR team is looking for help on nearly any section (gfx, models, sounds, maps, ..). And especially we are currently looking for beta testers, because we are soon going to start private betatests to remove bugs and improve online performance.
If you have betatesting experience, apply now! If you have cpm experience too, even better, please help us to finetune GTX (our promode like gamemode).
