We have made a few changes to the EU weekly cups. We have added free TDM/CA Cups each night of the week in order to further promote these events. So feel free to join as often as you like. This will also help us determine which night of the week is the more popular for each gametype. This is also the first week of the month so our new map pools begin! You can check out the maps below.

The new cups format and map pools listed below will take effect starting today. All the cups for the whole week are posted on the site, so feel free to head on over and take a look. Remember all these points you win can be exchanged for prizes, such as Razer gear in the FACEIT Shop.

The FACEIT Winter Season Final between

Cypher versus

evil is set to take place on 1 April, 12:00 CDT.

The two Quake titans have been going head to head recent months in the FACEIT Winter Season, both topping cups on a weekly basis. In their road to the Grand Finals, they managed to both top their groups.

Evil managed to overcome pavel, ash and Madball with relative ease, while

Cypher beat dem0n and Spart1e, as agent got disqualified. Also in the semi finals both duelers showered their supremacy, with evil beating Spart1e with 3:0, and Cypher taking out ash with that same score.

The two will now face in the grand final, all streamed live on

FACEIT TV with commentary by

Daniel "ddk" Kapadia and

Ziggy "nVc" Orzeszek!

At first I was pissed. Still kinda am that our lord and savior J.C. is working for scum... but then it hit me: Whatever happens, even if the occulus rift doesn't add up to its now 2 billion price tag, facebook has the kind of money to buy ID away from Zenimax and set it free.

Facebook has the kind of money to finance Quake. When you bring a 2 Billion dollar device to market having a killer app is necessary. So what if it costs $50 million to develop? Oh my god someone make a business case and translate it to silicon valley speak.

Facebook acquires Oculus Rift (48 comments)

Facebook announced that it has made a take-over deal with Oculus VR, the company behind the Oculus Rift. Facebook would buy the company in the second quarter of this year for 2 billion dollars, of which 400 million cash and 1.6 billion in shares that currently have that value. There will also be a bonus of 300 million if certain goals are met.

Marck Zuckerberg says that Facebook is preparing for the future with the take-over. He's calling mobile the platform of today, while virtual reality could be the platform of the future. "After games, we're going to make Oculus a platform for many other experiences" says Zuckerberg, "Imagine enjoying a court side seat at a game, studying in a classroom of students and teachers all over the world or consulting with a doctor face-to-face -- just by putting on goggles in your home". Oculus VR is very happy with the deal and they are determined to create the best virtual reality platform available.
