There's less than two weeks until signups deadline and so I would like to ask signed up teams to start paying the fee. Also I've noticed that there are many players who don't have a team, who I encourage to form a team by themselves and attend.

Many players asked me if they are allowed to come and just spectate the games and talk to other players and what would be the entry fee for them. All non-players will be allowed to enter the cafe without any fee, but I would still be happy if they donated some money to our paypal account (prague.lan@gmail.com) to cover the prizes and the rent.

Some people asked if we are getting QL LAN servers. The answer is yes, we are working on those, so let's hope that everything goes smooth and you all will be able to enjoy LAN ping.

John Carmack, chief architect of all id Software game engines up to now, has joined a pioneering virtual reality headset developer Oculus VR as its Chief Technical Officer. Here is what John himself says about this:

I have fond memories of the development work that led to a lot of great things in modern gaming – the intensity of the first person experience, LAN and internet play, game mods, and so on. Duct taping a strap and hot gluing sensors onto Palmer’s early prototype Rift and writing the code to drive it ranks right up there. Now is a special time. I believe that VR will have a huge impact in the coming years, but everyone working today is a pioneer. The paradigms that everyone will take for granted in the future are being figured out today; probably by people reading this message. It’s certainly not there yet. There is a lot more work to do, and there are problems we don’t even know about that will need to be solved, but I am eager to work on them. It’s going to be awesome!

Since the 1st InZENity CPM DUEL CUP was quite successful and people kept asking me if I can run this as a series of cups, we now decided to give it a shot. From now on there will be a seasonal based series (summer: August - September, fall: October - November, winter: December - February) of InZENity CPM DUEL CUPs. Each series has 5 cups + 1 winner´s cup. All cups will take place on Sundays starting at 17:30 CEST. If there is enough demand, we will also run 2v2 TDM, 4v4 TDM/CTF cups now and then. Moreover, there will also be an InZENity ranking system to keep you updated with all the facts.

The 2nd InZENity CPM DUEL CUP will be held at 10:30 CDT, 11 August 2013. If you are interested, you can SIGN UP! All participants are welcome to join

"The August 2013 Standard arena rotation is now online. On the first Monday of each month, we will be cycling the Standard arena pool. Rather than only having access to the same standard arenas day in and day out, each month we will now feature 25 arenas selected as playable for Standard-level matches.

Newly released arenas will remain exclusive for at least three months, but every other arena is eligible to be included in the cycle."

Shane "Rapha" Hendrixson from SK Gaming won the Quake Live 1v1 QuakeCon 2013 Championships and $9,000 in a thrilling five game final over Russian favorite

Sergey "Evil" Orekhov.

Hendrixson speaks to GameSpot on winning his third QuakeCon title, now nearly a dozen major Quake Live titles. He says he will not stop competing.

"I think I'll just look at it like 'hey, if I have the time to go play in a big tournament and can prepare for it, I will,'" he says, as DreamHack's 2013 Winter event looms in the distance with $15,000 in prize money. “"So I won't say that I'll 'retire'. I’'m going to always leave the door open. I've accomplished quite a bit in Quake, and to me I don't really look at it like 'okay, I've finally won this now I'm good.' I've always tried to take it one tournament at a time and I'm always looking to win and do more and I think it'll always be that way. If you don't look at it that way it's so difficult to win against someone who really wants it more than you.

Winning a third title now does mean a lot to me considering that John [ZeRo4] is my friend, someone I looked up to as a player for a long time and was the one who helped give me the little push I needed to start being able to win," Hendrixson said. "So to have that same accomplishment as him is nice to have. As with Cypher almost every tourney we go to I want him to do very well also and we have a good friendly rivalry, neither of us gets bitter when losing to the other and now that I have three like him, the race is on to see who can get four.

"Hi everybody! My name is Aleksey. Beginning with February 2013 I am sponsoring the 125 FPS QuakeLive League (http://125fps.com) and provide almost all of the prize money from my own pocket. Why do I do this? Because like many of us I played the first Quake and even Duke Nukem)) on lan during my childhood. Time goes by and I’m a grown-up man now with all the obligations that come along with it. Yet still I want the Quake community to flourish and reward me and all fans of the game with great matches, tournaments, reports etc.
When there are no tournaments with prize money the interest of players and fans decreases and that’s what I’m trying to combat. I’m sure I’m not the only one. The community has a lot of adult, successful people, as well as many young people who fell in love with the game.
I want to ask the community to help build on the foundation I and the 125fps team have laid and increase the prizes in the coming leagues. Fundraising is nothing new and is employed to collect funds for all kinds of events. I’m sure that many of you will be happy to chip in a sum that’s admissible for yourselves and even happier to follow the tournament you yourself made a contribution to!
Below are various ways to donate money for prize funds of 125fps.com leagues.
The reputation of the 125fps leagues guarantees for a fair distribution of funds. I myself will continue to contribute about 31500p(~1000$) every month.
I propose the following prize money distribution (31500RUR + donations)

15% of the donations will go towards the organization and coverage of the league, in particular recruitment of streamers.
Additionally I suggest limiting the prize pool of every league by 3500$. If there is more than 2500$ worth of donations the surplus funds get transfered to the next league. The biggest donators will be listed below every leagues prize pool (voluntary).
The fundraising will start with the announcement of the next league."

Yesterday's Intel Quake Live Duel Masters was full of exciting matches and moments captured by the colorful and insightful FACEIT coverage team. Rapha remains standing in the Duel Masters bracket after an intense match verse DaHang who has been pushed into the lower bracket alongside Evil and ZeRo4 who face off Saturday afternoon when the Duel Masters resumes.

In the 20th Anniversary DOOM Challenge JKist3 leads in the winner's bracket awaiting to the results of the Saturday lower final match between DevastatioN and DemonSphere.

Today the action continues with the Quake Live Clan Arena 3v3 Open. A small single elimination feeder began this morning at noon to fill out our 16 team double elimination bracket that will be beginning today at 12:30 CST. The FACEIT tournament coverage continues at twitch.tv/QuakeCon. Tune in!

This year's QuakeCon features tournaments in Quake Live and Doom 2. On Thursday the Quake Live Intel Duel Masters and 20th Anniversary DOOM Challenge will kill off, while on Friday the Quake Live Clan Arena 3v3 Open will mostly take place.

The Duel Masters this year will feature a slightly different format than usually. The 32 players are divided over eight groups. But instead like the normal format, the top players are in one group, and will fight for the top four seeds, and so on, giving interesting matches straight from the bat. All players move on from the groups, which are to determine seeds, to the Double Elimination bracket.
