Because of your support we are able to bring something very important to professional video gaming’s growth: a magazine that provides legitimacy to the sport. It is something very special to us and we consider it our contribution to the growing popularity of this sport. With our third issue relea

Hello there, you probably don't know me, but I'm minkee, how do you do. This would be because I never really come to ESR, it's a bit too leet for me, but all this controversy and excitement has made me take note. What interests me most of all is the fact that the majority (or is i

As with every year this years Quakecon was one for the history books of gaming. From the unprecedented tournament format to the splurge of announcements, and even a preview of the next game being release only a few months away. With so many treats one would be hard pressed to find much negative in t

Clanbase signups for the 2007 Spring Season for Quake 3 Arena has started, with an EuroCup XV 1v1 and two TDM OpenCups, 2v2 and 4v4. Keeping in mind that EC XV will not be on discuss cause it will for sure be a CPMA cup, I would focus a discussion on the mod choice for both 2v2 and 4v4 competitio

Ergonomic left handed gaming mouse (26 comments)

Hello, I have read Sujoys mousescore 2007 article and i agree with what he wrote about the mx518, that left-handers will look enviously at the people using the mx518, and i think its time that somebody does something about it. There is a huge demand for a left handed ergonomic gaming mouse,

I guess you predicted 2007 to be great year for gaming. With gaming being such a large, increasing and maybe now essential part of life, its only natural you should think it should evolve and produce improved goodness each year, right?. Well history shows its not quite that smooth straight line we

People will argue that the competitive Real Time Strategy game was born with Warcraft 2. The argument is similar to that which says FPS competitive gaming originated in BBS board Doom matches: A small number of people were able to play over often unreliable specialised services that nobody else kn

Competitive console gaming? (153 comments)

Many of you here won't take this seriously, console gaming. How ever we are on the edge that these babies will take over the current competitive games some day. The reasons are so simple, they have the support of the mass. The casual console world is so extremely huge, that it is just a laugh t

I am not a writer. With that said, today, June 22, 1996 marks a special day for many in this community. It was the day that the first episode of Quake went shareware allowing you to play roughly a 4th of the way through the game. It was also a day of great anticipation, as a little file called

Fakenickers have been around since the dawn of online gaming and today it's almost impossible to get on a public server without encountering a fakenicker. They are everywhere and in the last year or so, I've come to realize that there are many more fakenickers than there are "realnick

Like in real sports, Quake has had its own NationsCups (NC) for a while now, thanks to ClanBase for that. It gives the national communities a lot of reasons to talk, whine, and eventually play some games. Yes that's quite a lot. So why is it most *star players* (I hate that callsign) do not eve

Open Mod Content for Q4 - a call to arms (213 comments)

One of the most annoying, pointless things about Q3 was the constant reinvention of the wheel. Now it's already happening in Q4 and there aren't even any real mods yet. This is ridiculous. OSP and CPMA were the gold standard for Q3 not just because Rhea and I were better developers or p
