Issues and Hinderences.

I initially didn't want to draw connections between current sports and
People relate th or that sport and the constant drive to get it recognised as a sport hence we
eSports is competition, the fundamental is a competition, it's grown out of LAN environments to direct modem to modem connections to the internet and now is heading back to LAN. So why is that?
Well LAN was the first network, physical wires connecting each machine. Each machine installs the game and is on the same wire so maybe we can write something so people can play each other? Multiplay distributed gaming is born.
The internet appears, computers connected over wires talking to each other with electronic sounds. Wouldn't it be cool now if you could just call your friends computer and have a quick game? Sure and so modem gaming takes off....
Internet becomes a widly accepted method of communication, gaming services are launched. The growth of the internet means it's an ease thing. It's easy to get a game with a stranger just pop on to a server or go into a chat-room to organise a game job done. You don't need to arrange calls allow modems to accept calls so on and so forth, so this i think we can say is a natural evolution. So why is it that we're moving back to a LAN scenario. I can think of two main reasons.
1) There is a need and desire to meet the people you're playing, to extened the social circle beyond your current surroundings to grow as a person.
Plausable, there is a need for humans to mingle with other people and to socialise. There is an argument that says well we can 'e-socialise', perhaps, but i know from my own experiences that people act a lot differently face to face than on-line. It's far easier to throw an insult or a flame some-one's way when you're not looking at them.
2) Competition, we're striving to reach the most fair environment for compeition. Totally equal footing to determine skill.
Probable, i cannot count the times people have said "see you on LAN" or "pingrape" or some other form of flame regarding the state of the playing field. LAN is the perfect way to show a level footing.
We come back to competition, and gaining a fair playing field. If we equate this to something the majority of you reading will know. The beautiful game of football, What makes it fair? How do we achieve the same fairness that we do from traveling to a LAN? Well we get four jumpers pace them out opposite each other on a field, get two captains and take turns choosing players. The simplicity is mind boggling.

Also during the past years, the atmosphere of the events has changed. A large part of the visitors expect much, are extremely critical and consider a Drome LAN as a “product” that is paid for and demand high quality accordingly. The greater part of the so called “pro-gamers” community that we welcome on our events attend are bringing in “coaches” and “managers”, demand cash prices of hundreds or even up to thousands of euros and communicate in-game by “throwing” serious sicknesses at each other exclusively. This may be considered normal to some - however we find no motivation in organising our events for this target group which seems to grow only bigger. It goes almost unnoticed that the entire Drome organisation exists of unpaid volunteers who, besides organising this event, have a full time job and private life. The only motivation organising the event is the satisfaction of an appreciated and successful event. Aforesaid matters give satisfaction less and less.
Due to the medium of transmission?
Consoles Massive pay out for players over 2 years? Why? Microsoft trying to push the console space, and in one fell swoop move into the living room. Taking business away from PS3 and also pushing media centre.
Consoles why they'll be pushed by the big players, particularly microsoft.
Because players sell machines, if they fronted some money for this then the main reason for it would be to go "hey look at these guys they play xbox for a living" and to the young impressionable kid that looks like a cool thing, especially as it will get attention on major media streams. Therefore the sales of xbox will increase and it will be the one to have over the Ps3 as there are no announced leagues for Ps3. Couple this with the huge advantage MS have over sony with regard to networked gaming (xbox live and xxxx with the pc vs xbox games) and you have a very very bleak picture for sony.
