Series II will feature CTF for our friends in Europe. Each Series will consist of four (4) single elimination bracket tournaments in which points are awarded to all participants. These points are automatically tracked on the CSN site, using our built in points system. The more active that teams are and their ability to win matches will result in more points. Each series of four (4) Cups (brackets) will end with a ‘Finals Cup’, where the top ranked teams will compete for cash prizing. Once the series has been completed, the points will be reset and another series will begin.

All Cyber Sports Network playQUAKELIVE Cups will be free to join and will be streamed on the largest online gaming broadcast company, Twitch.tv, with commentary provided by professional gaming casters. Industry leading tournament technology and experienced staff members will administer all events.

The first playQUAKELIVE Cup Series II Points Cup for EU CTF will be held on Sunday, April 29th with start at 15:00 CEST.

Now we are happy to announce the May Edition of the Hymn of Hope duel tournament! It will be held Sunday, the 20th of May. Yes, that's right! It will be a one day tournament instead of a weekend tournament. More info below!

We saw the April edition succeed in both bringing top level duelling, loads of spectators, and a hell of a show for every quaker out there.
The tournament went smooth, even though so many games had to be played, and we got to see Rikoll come out the strongest, winning the finals convincingly against bps.

We have listened to the feedback from the community, and done some major adjustments in order to provide an even better experience for all involved parties. These changes include;
* 1 day tournament instead of 2 (this is to not take away an entire weekend from players, admins or spectators)
* Bigger prizepool (almost 3 times (!) larger than last edition!)
* Single elimination (we noticed that having a loser's bracket in such a short tournament with such a tight timeschedule was exhausting not only for admins but for players as well)
* Best of 5 from Quarterfinals (to be crowned champion you will have to master all the maps in the mappool)
* More scheduled games (this is to ensure the best possible viewer experience on the stream)

SAN FRANCISCO – April 17, 2012 – CBS Interactive today announced a major expansion into the fast-growing categories of live gaming and eSports through exclusive partnerships with TwitchTV and Major League Gaming (MLG). By combining the world’s biggest live video gaming community with the most popular eSports league, and its flagship gaming property, GameSpot.com, CBS Interactive Games now serves more than 3 billion minutes of live gaming and eSports content monthly, making it the most engaged video property for gamers worldwide.

The expansion of the CBS Interactive Games group includes the following deals:

• Partnership with TwitchTV: CBS Interactive has signed an exclusive partnership with TwitchTV, the world’s leading video game broadcasting network. Each month, TwitchTV attracts 16 million people from all over the world who tune in to watch other players, commentators, and live gaming competitions and events. CBSi Games, which now has a total reach of 25 million users watching almost 50 million hours of live gaming video per month, will exclusively sell advertising, promotions and sponsorships for this community.

• Partnership with Major League Gaming (MLG): The world’s most prominent eSports league, Major League Gaming (MLG), has signed a partnership with CBS Interactive to be the exclusive online broadcaster of their Pro Circuit competitions, as well as for advertising representation. Jaci Hays, GameSpot's vp of sales, games and entertainment, said that in warming up the ad community for this pitch, one of the biggest draws has been length of tune-in or the time viewers spend watching the games before switching over to something else. "Average tune-in is like 23-30 minutes, because it's live," she said.

It's a good environment for a traditional ad load, and because an online battle is pretty much long-form content, Hays trusts viewers won't go anywhere. Hays said one of the reasons online viewing has become so important is "because the technology is there now." Watching-only "spectator modes" have been around since the early days of the Quake franchise, but they've gotten more sophisticated as average bandwidths have increased. And, believe it or not, if you can sort out what's going on down on the battlefield, watching someone else play StarCraft has its own unique appeal.
