There is a survey going on in an attempt to narrow the ping gap between regions that could benefit from servers in the pacific. This may make it possible to have sub 100ms gaming between places such as the US West, East Coast Australia and New Zealand which would probably be of great value to communities like QuakeWorld, CPMA and Quake Live etc.
"I am trying to gauge some interest on whether a gaming service that bridged the pacific ocean and allowed for sub 100ms gaming between East Coast Australia, New Zealand and West Coast USA would be viable. In the future it could be expanded to include Japan, Guam and Polynesian Islands. West Coast USA based players would achieve around ~50ms ping with Central states being higher.
The setup of such a service would require physical servers to be hosted in a Hawaiian Datacenter, Internet connectivity with multiple ISP's (to ensure direct routing to each country) and this would come at a considerable cost.

The initial goal would be to have permanent servers for games which would benefit the most with the expansion of their player base such as the Quake series and its derivatives.

The end goal would be to allow game developers could also rent service space to give their games a permanent server in this unique location and in addition to permanent servers, a service would be offered where tournament admins could rent server time on a temporary basis for other popular games in order for players to compete in specific tournaments or events with a larger player base spanning the Pacific."

The fifth rotation of the Reflex Arena Monthly Cups will happen soon! Players of any skill level and any region are welcome and encouraged to compete in every Reflex Monthly Cup. Each cup is limited to 32 participants, so register early!

This month, there are a few changes to notice (details here) :
* The map Abandoned Shelter will replace Ruin.
* The map selection system (for BO3) is now -Pick, Pick, Drop, Drop- instead of -Drop, Drop, Pick, Pick-

Furthermore, NA#5 usual 100 USD prizepool has been raised to 210 USD thanks to the generous supporters. Don't forget there are rewards for players ranked from 1st to 6th place !

In an attempt to update and bring more options to the main Duel competitive map pool, SushiFlex admin United States of America dog has announced mapping competition for Reflex Arena. Currently the mapping competition has raised over 700 USD in donations as well as reinvigorating the small but dedicated mapping community within Reflex (with many newcomers as well).

Reflex mappers may signup for the competition on Matcherino.

Submission Deadline: 1st June
Judging Deadline: 12th June

The Americas Promode Conference has finally concluded! Congratulations to all players! For a complete look at the final head on over to the VOD found here for part 1 (click here for the first 2 hours of CPM casting) and here for part 2 (click here for 6 more hours of CPM) casted by the incredible and magnanimous United States of America Jehar and the Tastyspleen.tv team, also featuring the great CPMA community member United States of America pan1c as co-host.

*There was an optional survey that players took who participated in this event. The results of this survey are reflected in the Players Survey Results and the analysis is quite interesting to those who may wish to run an event in the future.
*In addition I've included a short section about our Division 1 winner United States of America vdmk (as well as a short section about our Division 2 winner Argentina ATP).

Congrats United States of America vdmk for rising above the thirty-one other players who competed in this 5 week long tournament that began on Sunday, March 11 2018 and ended on Sunday, April 15 2018.

Next week I am going to host a Europe European 1V1 cup. All games will take place on European/Russian servers.

The event will be held on 21st April 2018, starting at 10:00 CST. Check-in in an hour before the start. The cup will utilize a double elimination format, with all games (upper and lower bracket) being BO3 and the Grand Final being BO5. You can register via Challonge.
