Last Summer DreamHack proudly hosted the first Quake Live TDM tournament in a very long time. With the great success and high quality of the tournament it was an easy choice to go with Quake Live TDM again for this DreamHack.

“Quake Live is the ballet of eSports, it’s an art and a sport, a experience that tickle all your senses. It feels great to have both Plantronics and ZOTAC in this project and support one of the most dedicated communities out there.” said Fredrik Nystrom, Press Officer at DreamHack.

“This year we’ll only host a TDM-tournament, but we’ll add some duel to it – at the new DreamArena in the ice hockey arena we’ll host one showmatch in duel with 20 000 SEK on the line. ESL Major Series Season IX leaving us with a new slot to fill! So it was just decided to run a Last chance cup for the losers of the QR2 (excepted those who got a noshow) on Sunday 23rd at 13:00 CDT!

"Quake may be the most influential game of all time. Not the best game, not the most innovative, but the most influential. Without it, the industry would be a very different place today. It gave rise to many of aspects of modern gaming that we take for granted. Its developers, modders, and even the very code of the game itself are ubiquitous in the industry today. Id Software's 1996 FPS gave rise to 3D gaming, client/server online play, the most prolific mod scene in history, multiplayer clans, server browsers, eSports, mouse-look as the PC control standard, Valve and dozens of other companies, and even 1UP's sister website, GameSpy. Without Quake, it's unlikely another game that featured the same suite of innovations would have come along. We would have had to wait for each of those things one at a time."

This is my latest movie that I actually put a little effort into. I kind of got the hang of Wolfcam, and once everything was set up properly it was a really nice program to use. Props to Brugal for making such a tool.

A couple days after the last matches of the Duel Summer League 2011 (Congratulations to

Guismo12!) and the TDM Country Championship 2011 were played, the European Quakelive section just announced new competitions for Quakelive. The Autumn League 2011 will feature both TDM and CTF!

Both Leagues will run the same. Depending on the sign ups, divisions will be made. Each team plays each other once and at the end, the team which ends first is our Autumn winner! The Autumn League Award will be given to the mode for which the most teams signed up! See the sign up pages for CTF and TDM.
