Michal "Carmac" Blicharz, Product Manager and the public face of the IEM. The main topics discussed are Quakelive and its community, id Software, LoL and the future of esports.

“Of course it was hard to drop Quake Live. It's a fantastic game to watch and Quake is the game that introduced me to the world of professional e-sports. Not only because I like the game, but also many of the top players are my very good friends. [...]"

Stealing virtual items is a crime (128 comments)

Stealing virtual items in games such as World of WarCraft, TeamFortress 2, Runescape etc. etc. etc... is now a crime in the Netherlands, this has been stated by the judge in the Supreme Court. In 2008, a 13-year-old boy was threatened with physical violence with a knife from one of his friends unless he handed over some items in RuneScape. The Supreme Court stated that virtual items are of an economical value, so it's a crime when you steal it.

The suspect has been issued a 160 hour forced labor penality with a 4 month conditional juvenile detention. The accused appealed, how ever a year later the Supreme Court stated the same verdict.

Thursday the 30th of June at 13:00 CST, -FFA- is organizing the 7th open FFA Tournament.

This upcoming edition is a special edition to be played on

Maidenhead servers. The 7 maps chosen for this edition are based upon the most popular maps voted by the players.

The previous edition was completely dominated by

_chaos. The first player that managed to win all of the finals, and in fact losing only 1 map throughout the tournament. More details reported in these statistics.

Australia to Quake Live LAN (41 comments)

4Seasons Gaming is proud to announce the first Official Quake Live LAN competition (technically the first real one) to be held in the Oceanic region. This of course will be at Reloaded VII, July 15-17. Many thanks to id Software for making this happen, and hopefully we will continue to build from this amazing opportunity. Partnering for the event will be Tt eSPORTS Australia and Game Traders, and as always, 4seasons Gaming will be running two fully prize equipped duel competitions.

With an attendance already confirmed from the majority of the best Australian Quake Duelers, teams such as Vox Eminor and ArchaicMSI will also be flying players down for the event. The Pro's section of the competition will be the highlight for Reloaded VII, and will become the greatest 4sg produced competition to date. 10 Custom built PC's provided by Tt eSPORTS Australia will be provided for the Professional players travelling interstate, and setup in the Tt eSPORTS Arena. The Amateur competition will be BYOC only. Prizes are as followed

Team Dignitas to feature another Quake Live Duel tournament with up to 64 players to battle it out in a single elimination bracket with a prize pool about £200 in total split on the top 8.

It's not the first time the organization comes up with a QL tournament. In the previous edition the German master of the rail

tox1c with a clean 2-0 win to save him the title. This time the event is powered by AlienwareArena and looks to become as much of a success as the previous edition.

For the third time, MaverickServers.com is hosting a Quake 3 mapping competition. Mappers from the community are encouraged to participate; veteran level designers and those looking to get into level design are welcome to join in on the fun. Prizes will be awarded to the best maps.

The contest will start on June 4th and run until August 13th. Judging will occur for 1 week after. Registration deadline is on June 25th. More information will be posted here and on the main competition forums as it becomes available.

Quakelive at Lille Arena (50 comments)

The Lille Arena will take place in

Lille from the 1st to the 3rd of July and should see the finals of the French "Masters" circuit, a poker tournament and of course a traditional BYOC LAN party with its video games tournaments.

One of them will be a

Quakelive Duel tournament and should feature hardware prizes to be announced. The rules and layout should be similar to the ones used during DreamHack Summer 2011. A few TDM & CTF exhibition matches are also planned.

More informations should follow as soon as the prizes are announced! CRT monitors can be rented during the event for 30€ and the entry fee is about the same price (or 25€ before the 24th of June).
