There will be a limited amount of spots, but there will be prizes:
Top 3 will get to sponsor another player into the main event, additionally:

1st: $25 CAD

Instead of accepting donations blindly, I will instead allow each person donating $10 CAD or more to sponsor a player into the tournament. So if you donate $10, you may select a player to play in the tournament, if you donate $15 you can sponsor two players and so on. This will count for all donations already received.

We've implemented mutators which add a bit of fun to the game for more casual players. We've also retired the old arena game modes and pulled across arena mode as a mutator.

We've implemented addon support which allows you to share your widgets and game mods over the workshop. There's a lot of cool widgets out there that people have made, making it easier to get and keep them up to date should really allow people to use them more.

Addon supports asset overriding, so you can bundle custom jump sounds etc in addons too!

-Watches filesystem for change in base/addons folder and reparses disk on notification (rather than only polling disk on install/uninstall) - this allows people to drag new addons in while reflex is running, and reflex sees it.
-Triggers steam-requery after assets on disk change

-Added quick grouping of widgets into addons in widget list on UI (like a treeview but always expanded), hopefully will help organise addons

The custom widgets are a great feature for Reflex, but they also allow you to really assist yourself in game. What exactly to allow/dissallow is not an easy thing to decide. For example I think everyone would agree there isn't much gain with custom jump sounds (depends how elitist we go i guess), while I think everyone would agree having a custom armor pickup sound of 25 seconds definately crosses the line.

So what we have done is provided servers with a list of the custom modifications each client has. This isn't easily visible and is only really going to be used by cheat detection people organising competitions. The intent is that some competitions may allow some mods, while others won't.

So we've had an experimental ruleset for a few patches now. We work with a small group of advanced players which take part in assisting us in determining which way to adjust the ruleset. It's been brought up that the turn around time for this process is too slow. So what we're doing is providing a new "Experimental_Plus" ruleset to this group which allows them to tweak gameplay on their own build. We're keeping this to just them for now because the goal isn't to have crazy mod servers out there, but to have intellegent subtle tweaks made to improve the gameplay. With the ultimate goal that we can more quickly finesse the gameplay.

I wanted to make this known so people know about it, and also because you guys are all able to connect to these servers and see what they have been doing. I believe the up-coming League will be using this ruleset, for more perhaps talk to @Qualx

Participation: To participate in this tournament, players are expect to register via challonge, and are required to join the Oceanic AFPS Discord

Map Selection: Flip a coin (callvote random 2h/t). Winner chooses first map. Loser chooses second map. If a third map is required, the loser of the cointoss will drop a map from the reminder of the map pool first, then the winner of the coin toss will drop a map, repeat until there is one map left. The map selection process will be as follows: +pick(winner), +pick(loser), +drop(loser), +drop(winner), +pick.

Map Selection for Grand Finals: For the Grand Finals, which is BO5, players will flip a coin, starting with the winner of the cointoss the map selection process will be as follows: +pick(winner), +pick(loser), +pick(winner) +pick(loser), +drop(loser), +drop(winner), +pick.

Match Start: Player must play their matching within ten (10) minutes of games being assigned.

Match Reporting: After the matches are complete both players are required to submit their results to an admin. Any discrepancies in reported scores will be investigated by admins.

Matches Details: Players must take an end of game screenshot, and a complete demos of all their games. Players can use cg_autoaction 7 to have a demo, and screenshot be automatically recorded by the game. Players must be able to provide demos of their games upon request.

Nick: Your nick on sign-up list should be the one you use on Discord, and in-game. No fakenicks allowed!

Behaviour: Be nice to one another. Excessively flaming other players, spectators, casters, admins or referees will lead to disqualification.

Cheating: Any, and all forms of cheating, or assistance will lead to disqualification.

Anything not explicitly covered by the above rules will be up to the volition of the admins.

For each season, players will be separated by region and then grouped into divisions based on their skill level, so there's no minimum skill requirement to enter. Each division will have up to 8 players who will each be matched against every other player twice over the course of the season.

Every week, players will be expected to schedule matches against two opponents. The scheduling process is partially automated; players can list periods of time when they're available and the scheduler will then generate a mutually convenient match time if possible.

Matches will be Bo3. The map pool for each match will consist of 5 maps drawn (by the matchmaker) from the total pool of 7. Picking order (W denotes cointoss winner, L denotes cointoss loser): L ban, W ban, W pick, L pick, decider. Players will receive 1 point for each map they win, plus an additional point to the winner if the third map isn't played (so winning 2-0 awards you 3 points).

Divisions will be allocated over the next few days. You may be asked to provide some sort of input here! Keep screenshots of results from games played against other entrants because that'll be helpful for us to figure out where to place you. In the absence of screenshots, you might be asked to play a couple of placement matches.
The matchmaker will run on 5th November, creating the fixtures for the whole season.
The first week of the main part of the season will start on 12th November, in order to give players time to schedule their first games (and to give some leeway in case of delays).

Map system info:

Each player will meet each other player in their division twice, for a total of two BO3 matches per opponent. Each match will have a fixed map pool, and players will each choose a map from this pool, with the third being used as a decider. Cointoss winner will select who picks first in the first match. Whoever picks first in the first match will pick second in the second match.

For the first half of the season, every round (there are two simultaneous rounds per week) the map pool will be randomly or semi-randomly selected with one group 1 map and one group 2 map, and the third map being randomly chosen from all remaining maps.

For the second half of the season, rounds will use the complement of the map pool from the first half - that means that any maps that weren't in the pool for a pairing's first match will be in the pool for the second match.

Maps can be substituted with visual variants (eg The Blue Catalyst can be used in place of The Catalyst) or performance versions. Performance versions and visual variants must be identical in geometry and items, and they must all be official (ie, created or endorsed by the map's author). In the event of a disagreement regarding versions, the performance version will be used if either player requested it, and otherwise the primary visuals will be used unless otherwise instructed by a league official.

Players will be allowed to choose from Experimental or Competitive rulesets. If players cannot agree on which ruleset to play with they must default to Experimental.

Some high level games will be streamed. If you're interested to stream matches, get in touch with an admin and it can probably be arranged.
