In celebration of 20 Years of Quake, Executive Producer Jerk Gustafsson from MachineGames (Wolfenstein The New Order 2014), released a custom singleplayer mappack called "Episode 5: Dimension of the Past" last week. It contains nine small to medium-sized levels of various themes including a start map, a secret map and a deathmatch arena.


The mappack is a mix of Quake 1 original and later fan mapping trends. Unchanged are the Q1 textures, monster, sounds and soundtrack, to get the retro feel alive. The gameplay is very fluid. It also has good visuals and nice ideas and fights in it. Some secrets are hard to find. I played Q1 right before the new mappack so i can say for sure its a good one. The runs in this movie are tool-assisted, utilizing scripts and special software. The game physics were not altered. Nonetheless, these records are excluded from the official rankings. The runs in this movie are performed on the maps from the competition DFWC2012.

This is my first movie and I have no editing skills, so please don't expect much. If you like scripted runs, I hope you like these =)

Here is the Greenlight campaign and trailer for a game I've been working on by myself for over a year. (steam)


This isn't simply another Quake remake, it is an arena FPS that has been built from scratch with an original concept. There are many influences from games such as Q3, HL, CS, but the unique gameplay is something new.

My goal is to get this greenlit and backed on Kickstarter soon, so that the game can be further developed with other people helping out to improve the overall quality of the game.

There has been a large focus on making sure the game and concept is fit for competitive gaming, so I thought it may interest some of you. And while there will be fun / easy / casual game modes to play around on, the game is a competitive arena FPS at its core.

The sign-ups for ql Quake Live TDM 2v2 Summer Cup #1 are open from Sunday 3rd July until Friday 15th July 2016.

The Cup will be held Sunday 17th July at 15:00 CEST, duration depends on the sign-ups.

We are running a public poll to get the preference of the community. But more importantly, we are also asking team captains for their vote to determine the 7th map (please contact doz3r with your vote).

UPDATE: We will use DE (double elemination) with LB (loser bracket) playing bo1 brackets with Challonge. All players/teams have to register again.

Today it has been 20 years since the gateways to other dimensions went operational as id Software released Quake to the masses. Featuring fascinating technological advancements and a gameplay that could turn anyone into a online gaming addict, collectively generating billions in revenue for the internet service providers, it took the players by storm.

Throughout the years the game has been maintained, polished and played by a dedicated community which has made it stand the test of time. Development of the client and server software is going on still today, with ezQuake 3.0 being released just a couple of weeks ago with numerous improvements featuring also changes made in collaboration with the Quakecon tournament organizers. The latter changes made in order to fulfill ruleset requirements in time for the Quakecon 2on2 anniversary tournament in August this year.

It is suggested that you celebrate this special day by simply enjoying some free for all action or similar, playing the game, which can be downloaded from nquake.com in a neat installer.

Nine days ago Tim Willits walked out onto the Bethesda E3 show stage to formerly announce Quake Champions. However, details were light and questions remained unanswered.

Enter free British tabloid newspaper the Metro's GameCentral. In this interview Tim Willits is caught off guard when the interviewer begins with a complaint and starts to spills the beans on the beginnings of project "Lovecraft" and the design of Quake Champions.

GC: You’re bringing back such memories for me now. I knew this guy that always got his girlfriend to time when they respawned. And they all used to… I can’t remember exactly what they were doing but they turned all the textures off or something, to make sure it was always 60fps?

The ESL announced a few days ago the Overwatch Atlantic Showdown, which will take place from the 20th to the 21st of August at the Gamescom trade fair in Germany Cologne.

Three months after the launch of the game, this event will feature an impressive prize money of $100,000 (USD) for the eight participating teams.
