I think t4 and dm13 are both good maps, and they both have some unique traits that separate them from the other duel maps.
t4 is the only map without LG. It's also the only map that is not heavily based on map control.
dm13 is the only map without rail. I would say it's also more about cutting off your opponent and catching your opponent off guard than the other maps are.
IMO both of these maps should stay until there are maps that can properly replace them.

Don't see the point in playing ZTN and DM6 in these tournies since it'd be so much more useful to use it only to play new maps. Therefore I voted these 'new' maps but even Aerowalk, T7 and T9 could take a hike

well tbh i dont know concrete palace, so i cant say anything about it.. but i think its critical, that people only want to see those fast rape maps like hektik or toxicity anymore.. Sure its fun to watch, because there is much action on the streams when those maps are played.. But they keep they keep the tactical component of quake entirely away and matches can go either way.. i dont want to become a fast ffa shooter, i want a game that is about decisions and if you have good reactions and a nice aim, that should help you to win your games, but it shouldnt be everything.. those rapemaps ruin ql duel as a very difficult and tactical mode where you have to have a lot of experience and knowledge imho..
beside that, i think a bigger pool makes it more diversified for players and people who watch. conclusion:

well part of the appeal of toxicity and hektik is that they are new. its not only about their constant in your face fighting. battleforged plays with a quite balanced tempo and its only a few votes behind hektik...
anyway you have a point and i would also hate to see aero, hektik and toxicity in the same mappool, there needs to be some more variety

Why house of decay was ever removed I don't know. It's a great map and a really fun map to watch imo. Same with dm6 I feel.
Don't like aerowalk (Just think it's too aim heavy and random for my liking but that's just my opinion) the rest are good maps even concrete place but I just prefer + think these maps are the most balanced and great to watch overall.
I think people are forgetting that just because there aren't many frags doesn't mean it's any less entertaining.
on the other hand, if ql does not get enough subscribers it will die anyway (with the current business model)
the whole situation is kinda fucked up :(
but tbh we should not accept stagnation because people who play a game for years and compete in tournaments are not willing to pay2$ a month, fuck them. get a subscription and enjoy the new maps

Dunno why Palace is getting rocks thrown at it... they swapped the YA / GA making it more balanced... what more do you want? Do only certain layouts work? If Palace were to be a good map, would it require changing to the point that it would be unrecognizable?
Also Battleforged had those sound issues fixed, and it`s pretty fun to play / watch IMO. Should be back in.
Toxicity is small and fast and it requires courage to grab the RA / MH. My only complaint is that it has no shotgun for who knows what reason and three RL`s, but it is tourney-worthy for sure, IMO.

Probably because it is a well balanced map and it's a good spectator map. People aren't voting for it because "It's supposed to be there" They're voting for it because they enjoy it ;p

As a 5-map pool I think "blood run, lost world, aerowalk, toxicity, and furious heights" would be great. If you want campgrounds, replace toxicity with it.
Any pool with aerowalk, hektik, and toxicity in it will be bad. Those three maps are way too similar in gameplay and space.
agree with the 3 maps, i think aero/toxicity should be in the pool, at least for a while. lost world has got to go though man, map delivers good games maybe like 10-20% of the time =\
You're talking from a spectator point-of-view. I know viewership is a big deal, but these players are playing for money and should perform on maps that really test skill. DM13 is a map that does take a lot of control and positioning and aim. As an admin, I try and make map pools that vary in different techniques. Aerowalk, Blood Run, Lost World, and Vertical Vengeance are pretty much the 4 corners of the dueling universe.
I've always thought that Zotac would benefit from a dynamic map pool. Have a large pool of potential maps, but on any given weekend only 3 would be selected (announced a week or so in advance). It would add variety to the cup, give the organisers something to advertise each week, give an opportunity to test out newer additions to QL without worrying too much if the map is ready for a 6 month rotation, etc.
You could either balance a pool of 3 (e.g. 1 old classic, 1 QL staple map, 1 new map... or 1 slow, 1 medium, 1 fast) or you could give particular themes to a weekend (adrenaline rush weekend with 3 fast maps, brain drain weekend with 3 slow maps).
It would benefit the sponsors if people are talking more about 'this weeks zotac', it would benefit the community if more maps get a chance in the spotlight, it would benefit QL development if feedback on new maps is based on competition level scrutiny (which is when the real issues start to show themselves). The only downside I can see is that some players who are reluctant to learn new maps will have a disadvantage against those who do (which could result in some disappointing blowouts)... but you could also say that gives new players to the scene a chance to make their names.
love the idea and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has thought of it before but unfortunately I'm also pretty sure you'd get less sign ups. should be worth a try though!

just out of curiosity pls tell me what maps are better than ztn and aero cos maybe there re some leet maps there that i dont know about? (and pls spare me q2dm1 cos its pure epicness and a legend which should not be ever discussed but still it only works this good in q2)
Went for a 7 map pool with: ZTN, dm13, T4, T9, aerowalk, toxicity and T7.
Seems like a good balance. 2 non-rail maps, one non LG map with the other maps having full arsenal will make things more interesting. Also, there's 2 fast paced aim heavy map in toxicity and aero, 2 maps that can be played fast paced or slow in T9 and T4 and 3 tactical maps.
Take the top 6 minus hektik, and I would be happy :) I'm so so on T4 as well.
And plz remove dm13, there is just no variety anymore. Some amazing stuff still happens on ztn and hub; the best thing that happens on dm13 is a good rocket into the lava, or a nice spam kill or two, quake has so much more to offer than this map can provide.
Is there a reason so many QL maps have the same configuration? I mean, every map has like 2 YA's (or the rough equivalent), 1 RA and a mega. It used to be more common to have one red, one yellow and one mega. Not to mention the fact, every played QL map contains a mega, and only t4 has something other than a 35 second mega. Is it the work of arQon? I know he likes to push his concept of giving people more armor (like he did in cpm). Maybe it would be better though, to create a new armor, which gives people 150... that way, we could at least have more map variety, where a map could have like a 150, an RA and maybe a mega. Having too many items actually slows the game down more than it increases the amount of fighting.
I agree that there should be more variety in terms of power up layouts in maps. Not all maps need to be all about map control. I would like to see a new map with something similar to t4's power up scheme. (2 YA's and a major power up between them that has a slow respawn) For the middle power up you could have something like a 1 minute RA.
