During Christmas break I spent some time creating a duel map. I finished the layout and the item placement. Feedback at this stage would be good to understand if it has potential gameplay-wise, or should be put away.
Mode: Duel
Items: 1x Mega, 1x Red, 2x Yellows.
Weapons: Rocket, Rail, Shaft, Shotgun, Nades.
Features:- I used a transpared grid for some elevated places. It blocks player movement, but is transparent and allows shooting through. This is meant to alter the balance of one player above, one below.
- I put Mega and Red into communicating rooms. It takes time to travel from one to the other, but there are visibility and spamming opportunities. This changes the process of gathering item information.
- Sometimes I used tubes and tanks as stairs and ledges. Again the movement is identical to solid concrete, but the reaction to weapons is not. Grenades spamming is less efficient, but spamming with rocket from blow is doable and possibly efficient.
Are these ideas good? I'm not sure. Feedback is welcome.
- Download the file memento.pk3
- Copy it to your QL folder "...\AppData\LocalLow\id Software\quakelive\baseq3"
- Set its file properties as read only (QL deletes it otherwise).
- From the game, launch \devmap memento
