when I was playing on 60hz I'd hit anywhere from 33-37, ever since i got 144 it's been more like 43-55 (mainly playing ca, although percentages in other modes including duel are kinda similar). i am by no means claiming to be "good" at quake by any definition, but 144hz has helped my aim a lot.

I experienced the same playing cpma as well. It's weird because the game almost registers better, even though your aim doesn't really improve.

Played with the 2233rz for two years and with the t220 4m and after that again 2233rz till nowdays(more than a year)... so I played for quite a while to be a placebo.

Maybe, I overreact more to the sudden changes in movement@120Hz that are less visible on 60/75Hz and thus track better + t220 have good response time and is good monitor in general.

What i understood is that your rail Performance is detrimental to king's. You're better on 120hz he's better on 60hz. So i figured there's no clear effect of 120hz vs 60 or 75hz.

samsung 2233rz is 120Hz(1680x1050) monitor while samsung t220 is 60Hz(1680x1050) that can work on non-native resolution in 75Hz mode.
My rail performance is better on 2233rz while my lg is better on t220. Played long enough with both to confirm it's not a placebo.

Nvidia/ati custom resolution/refresh? It isn't on the listed win 7 resolution modes. The max is 1280x1024 with 75Hz.

All you need is RGB cable with ati. Maybe you need reforce (or how it was called) with nvidea. Can't test it as i don't use ati right now. My t220 is connected via dvi @ 60hz as i use it as secondary.

With ati all you had to do is to check EDID mode (or something like that.)

I got a desktop about 1 month ago, with a nice display, vga, etc. Previously, I was playing on a laptop too.

My RG acc is about 44% and that didn't change much. However I have that accuracy since years, inclusive on other games that have similar weapons to RG.

With LG the difference was big. My LG on qlive was never very good. I'd say around 34%~38%. On my stats is lower because I spam LG a lot.

Now with the new screen, I can make quite often 44% lg and I can also feel that the LG feels better.

Also, during that process of update my computer, I changed my mouse (an old deathadder to logitech g303).

Not very relevant, but my LG feels better only at qlive. On QW, I'm still hitting pretty much the same as before - around 41%. My LG at QW was always pretty good, and 10 years ago I was probably hitting the same than now.

60Hz isn't enough information to give you an accurate reply. While refresh rate does play a role input latency varies from model to model. In other words, 60Hz on a CRT is commonly better than 60Hz on LCD. Not that all CRTs are good but they are usually much better than LCD. It's important to point out that Strenx uses 60Hz at home and his LG is very strong (or used to anyway I am not up to date on his equipment).

Are you sure this isn't a more about your connection to the servers? Run tracert for the servers play on and see if anything is out of the ordinary. When I moved and switched ISP last year my online experience worsened.

If possible you should try playing directly connected. WIFI can lead to all sorts of strange behavior in QL and online gaming in general. You are likely experiencing higher latency and maybe dropping packets.

Well it's not like I've had any issues with my eyes or eye sight, it just feels so much smoother and clearer when I went from 60hz to 120/144. I wouldn't trade away the difference for anything, and there's not a single chance in hell I could go back to 60hz now that I'm used to 120.

My accuracy went down with all my weapons when I switched to 144hz. I really think it depends on the person. I think for some it won't make a difference and some it may help a lot. For me the only difference is the images look smoother and it may be easier on the eyes. I am really hoping someone makes an oled 240hz monitor. I don't think it could get much better than that.

if your eyes have adapted to watching 60hz and it feels smooth to you, the crispness of 144hz can make it seem like your mouse is too jerky. because the input is so precise, instead of having a little extra glide that you're used to having with each mouse movement you have instant stop and start. that's how it felt to me for a while at least.

It has been about 2 years and my aim hasn't improved. I have determined that my brain is better at guessing where there going to be instead of being confused by them stuttering around.

my LG aim is purely reaction. no guessing, no predicting, just following where people move. they appear to move more slowly with cg_playerlean 0, and i think getting used to that setting was an even bigger boost to my accuracy than using 144hz.

i hated this monitor when i first got it, went back to my 120hz CRT for a while and then decided to switch to 144hz for good. every now and then ill challenge myself and play with no audio or visual cues as to hits or damage, and lower framerate like 40fps or 60fps just to have a few games after that at 250fps where i hit ridiculous LG accuracy and watch the trolls line up to talk shit.

You will get a boost, but it won't suddenly become 40%. Realistically you should be able to hit at least 35% at 60hz, so practice your aim more.

Both new? Once the skates wear down or your pad gets old it's laborious to hit 40% with any mouse I'd say. Since the changes are gradual most people don't realize how much friction there is. Also you only hit what your opponent allows you to hit in reality. The baseline for LG accuracy is really opaque because opponents and situations are not always the same.

Yeah you guessed it right, was talking about clanarena; i think in duel you are supposed to have less percentages simply because you need to sometimes prefire around corners etc and you dont have anyone to tank for you, while in clanarena you can drop off enemy focus from yourself onto your teammate and then go for 100% tunnel vision mode.
Also, just incase, i am using crt, so difference between 120-200hz is really not that big, i guess on lcd it would be different story.

Switching to a higher refresh rate gave me a maybe 2-3% improvement to shaft aim (from less than 30% to a bit more than 30%). Lowering sens to >35cm/360 (and turning on accel so the game is still playable) helped me much more. Also on wifi.

LG wasn't that much of a problem for me @60Hz when I had my CRT in for a repair. But rail suffered a lot, huge, wobbly input lag probably....

My lg/rail stayed the same however my rocket improved. I was able to hit way more air rockets on 144hz.

often ends up with something like ~25-28% lg accuracy, but infight he not only outdmg the enemy with the lg, but he hits 35+ and not rarely 40+ with the lg. You can't judge how someone is good with the lg from plain stats.

None of these guys hit those percentages when playing decent opponents, not even in CA where spam is a lot less used. Sure semi decent aimers will from time to time hit 50%+ but that won’t happen vs good dodgers. I’m not saying it is impossible, there are few players out there who hit like a fucking truck regardless of their opponent, but they are few.

anyways, as few has pointed out, playing with 120+ overall improve the playing experience, and will probably improve your aim a bit, but it is not some magical phenomenon that will skyrocket your accuracies.

I play CA only, my LG accuracy on my profile is 41%. In 4v4 I usually hit 37-45% but you will get free/easy damage from quite often there. In 1v1 vs decent opponents my aim can go as low as low 30’s. It also happens I hit close to 50% but that is, as suggested earlier, only vs people with weak dodge. So basically your question is meaningless, and all these fuckers doesn’t always hit the same accuracies either.

RL;DR: It feels a lot better playing with 120+ hz, and I would definitely recommend getting one, but your aim will probably not improve much, and maybe not at all.

I've been playing on 60 Hz for almost 5 years now.
I doubt it that my acc would increase much if i did switch to back to 120 Hz. I don't even remember if it was ever higher.. but it would be interesting to see my stats from Sep 2010 via web archive or something like that tho :)

What bothered me the most was unable to see enemy movement as well as before.. so that kinda screwed up my prediction (mostly for rockets). I also had some difficulties adjusting to 16:9 ratio (1920*1080) after playing 4:3 (800*600) for more than 10 years. I felt that it messed up my perception of distance when spamming rockets under enemy feet.


I honestly think that FPS is going to play larger role in your LG accuracy than refresh rate. How well does QL run on your laptop anyway?

I think most claims from others saying that it's worse with lower Hz are probably based on 1-2 games of trying. You need to play quite a few games and spend some time adapting to the "new setting" to make it statistically accurate..

I have found since I'm stuck using 60hz for awhile that putting picmip from 7 to 10 and using in_mouse -1 has helped me hit high 40's consistently with LG in shitmodes like CA

CRT enhances your performance a lot, but you can still make the difference with a shitty monitor.

43% avg with crt by playing ca and ffa, so look for a low input lag, low response time, high refresh rate monitor.

but don't get stuck with lg too much, it's just a part of the game: outplaying your opponent is better than outaiming imo.

as stated, it depends on the particular monitor, but I've tried a dozen different 60/75Hz monitors and a dozen different 120/144Hz monitors. LCD monitors, that is.

it also depends on the gametype and players, of course. but speaking generally, in a populated FFA game or something, typical for 60Hz for me is about 35%, but sometimes I'd get 40 or slightly over. I'd say lower to mid 30s is average, though.

120Hz? 40-50%. average maybe lower to mid 40s, though. so probably a 10% difference on average, give or take a bit.
