Well I suppose loving the gameplay about as much as one could has a bit to do with it, but I also like some other games of that time.
And it's about the art-style, too - I think it's made wonderfully in q3. In fact, some of the maps look better for me in some competitive-type configs - both dm13 and nodm9 look cartoony, a bit like TF2, but even better :)
If you haven't before, try defrag or at least watch a movie of it - you'll probably be surprised by what this old engine can still do.
- the gun position is just meh
- add some AA, AF, like 8x and 16x
- cg_lightningstyle 4 (the thin and sexy one) or 1
- wtf brightskin color is ugly, well, not ugly but blue? wtf. make it flashy or just keep the default keel's skin (sport & bright), you'll still be able to see it properly even with your bright config, trust me
- change this crosshair, it's too small (that's what she said), and green, make it white or something
- change your hud ? "ui/hud2.txt" could be fine in your case
- what are your rail settings ? hopefully you got a sexy rail effect
- remove the demorecording message, and the lagometer, just look fugly tbh
- add more bloom ? tweak your bloom settings a bit ?

a lot of ppl (including other game's players know about the streams, they just can't understand jackshit [or think the game looks nice enough for their eye] with the "clean pro cfgs")
yes, right after i called you noobraper cuz you wouldn't even care to balance the teams in a ctf where your team was full of nice players and the other was just a bunch of noobs running around practising their respawn
