Is it really on q3 engine? The number of polygons on Cyberdemon seems to be way higher than your standard q3 model...

It is the Q3 engine. The guy working on this project seems to have fun updating the rendering engine. Q3's source code is available and this makes it easy to upgrade. There was a Q1 project that made it use advanced bumbmapping like doom3 engine. Its nammed Teanebra or somthing like that.

AFAIK that's actually the Doom3 version of Aerowalk. As in down to textures used etc.
What's the deal with this, is this making q3 on doom3/q4 technology or is it re-vamped q3 engine or something. If the latter then demo pls.
Otherwise it's just doom3 with a different gun and hud model, all of which I could do in about 2 minutes.

Dude it's a stand-alone version of q3.
Now they had to redo the content though which was still protected under copyright.
If mods would be ported to this that would be awesome, because anyone could just download it without having to buy q3.

You have to get the d3 .map file and recompile it. You can't just load it.

I am not sure how exactly, but probably not on the level q4 is compatible with its maps :P

Standalone game created from the released Q3 source.
Remember that the GFX, sounds and such were still licenced so they have created everything you see from a scratch...looks quite good doesn't it?

are really all those models new, like the machinegun ammo box looks like the original one, or are they still using some of the original models (its not yet released) in this test version ?

People have to remember that things take time, this is like an alpha, it's going to run like crap for awhile. However, with time it could end up looking like some of the updated qw engines, which run and look amazing!

Lots of potential, we need the CPL to pick up on this, get the guys working on this and CPMA team working together and make a standalone game. (with everything that is great with everything)

q3evo is basicly 2 q3 project that a guy mix up and adds features. He takes the icclus project made to make a standalone version of the q3 engine and the updated graphic engine of xreal project.

Yes, you are right. AFAIK xreal was against copyright and now it's dead anyway.
