to all ppl telling me to quit wow, i already did, just that i had a fever yesterday and my throat hurt like hell (still does though i dont have a fever anymore)
Might sound like a bad excuse but its the truth =(
next step will be that you suddenly have a lot of time on your hands and you dont know what to do with it. that is the dangerous step when 99% of all addicts fall back to wow.
its hard for swedes since the swedish word for stress ISN'T the same word we use for physical stress in materials.
the word 'stress' popped up in swedish when it was popularized in english for the same meaning. BUT the english word for stress (the on u have as a person) came from the other word stress (that of course didnt) as u were put pressure on and it seamed like a good word.
note: The swedish word for stress is spänning, not to be confused the OTHER swedish word spänning meaning voltage :D:D
actually it's hard for Germans as well cause here we have the German word "stress" only for the psychological aspect of the English stress. I just happened to know the difference the English one ;)
It dosn't have all that much to do with beeing in shape.
It was in my cause probably caused by a change in mousestyle, and that I played ALOT during that change.
From what I've seen many people who has gotten RSI in the wrists has gotten it after a change of mousestyle, probably due to you not beeing use to playing that way and therefore you move it in ways that hurts the wrists and in ways that you're not use to moving it.
Low sens probably dosn't have *all* that much to do with it eather as it seems like alot of really lowsens users (see ztrider =P) dosn't get RSI.
I'm using around 25cm for a 360 turn and I know that alot of people use way lower.
Just in case you're reluctant to hit the weights and/or exercise as the Wiki article suggests (fuck if I know what you do everyday >_>), I'd recommend doing certain mundane tasks to help your forearms such as moving heavy things from one point to another (ie, moving big boxes, carrying groceries and other things from the car, etc.). As someone who's often busy but does stuff like this in little amounts of time yet on a regular basis, I've never had anything as remotely similar to RSI, let alone RSI itself, ever.
I changed because I used a sens and style that worked well for me when I played tdm and ctf but not so well in duel (high sens and wrist only movements).
I changed to a lower sens and a mix between wrist and arm movements.
wouldn't less sensitivity be better because you move your arm more? i feel way less stress on my hands now.. perhaps it's just because i cba to move the mouse 3miles a day ;D
I played wrist-only-style with sens'es ranging from 17 to 25cm/360 and never had a sign of RSI and I played lots and lots.... doubt sens has much to do with it tbh it's more a sign of bad/improper technique :>
but you're probably right with bad/improper technique, as i can imagine that is the mainproblem - only guessed that senseincrease would eliminate most of the problem since it did so in my case.
Actually, it's a great example of why so many people have justifiably given up on Q4.
The eternal clusterfuck of not even being able to play a freakin DEMO, let alone an actual game, without having to hunt down some random, bullshit, UNRELATED PK4 just makes it not worth the effort for most people, and I don't blame them.
It's been a YEAR since Q4 was released, and Raven's incompetence is STILL making the game inaccessible to far too many potential players. Hardly any wonder that it HAS so few players as a result.
actually the netiquette says that you should do it like *so* or _so_ then, not SO...
But arQon ist quite right on that matter. I wish I could have a better understanding on why it is that hard to fix the issue, as well as the issue with jerky spec-demos... *sigh*
What makes me really pissed is that besides all the bugs, quake4 gameplay (movement, weapons, etc.) is way too much fun for me, to go back to q3...
Well I guess nobody would quit a game because he could not watch _one_ demo.
But the point is, that someone who has gotten somewhat into q4 and tries to watch some demos will propably fail on every second attempt...
...each time with a different error...
Plus he gets fucked up sound. This can make some people quit, or lets say not dive deeper into a game/scene...
Lets hope id/raven will finally do something about it.
Maybe naani is good on the internet, but he would suck on lan.
That argument is so dumb, it's incredible it still carries weight. Changing from 30 ping on the internet to 0 ping on lan is like changing from 60 ping on the internet to 30 ping on the internet. Which is something we've all done. It's not much different. You die a little faster, you kill a little faster. The strategies are all the same. The same people who win online, win on lan.
Back in the oldschool days, we had terms for people who could only win with low pings - "All-Ping", "Ping-Whore", for example. These types were considered the worst players. We would play with 100 ping to their 30, and still kick their asses. Now, politics has turned things around. These days, if you win with 30 ping online, but you don't go to lans, you're worthless.
The argument is nonsense. It's the same as calling someone a cheater after they beat you. It's a way of saving face.
ye ur in a way correct, but it sounds a lil bit harsh. cauze there are several other sources of stress u have to handle on lan. so only some ppl are capable to solve these things, i think there will be forever these so called online stars..
Good for me that I don't suffer much from lan pressure and having 50000 csplayers screaming behind me =P
I tend to play just as good/bad on lan as I do online.
What I don't understand though, is you people not understanding that fever = ugly play.
If we where both at our best shape the scores would be quite diffrent. I'd guess something around 30-10 to ztrider.
We played with 4 cs teams screaming behind us at wsvg sweden. =P
I actualy hit quite alot, but I lost badly anyway cause I had only been playing ctf since christmas ;)
Played just as bad as I did in my online games ;D
When someone like Naymlis can beat Clamp (NYC resident) on a Chicago server, I'm not saying that that became the outcome solely 'cause of ping-related issues and such, but I think that just goes to show how playing on nothing but LAN and online w/ LANish pings can leave you somewhat unprepared for online play.
The same can apply the other way around: you have to learn to stop leading like you do online when you play on LAN for the first time. The former situation, however, is undoubtedly harder as I remember online play being so "blah" when I got home from ISC. I think many others know where I'm coming from.
