reason i think i got banned, is cus i downloaded southpark and lost (at same time) and when they finished i stoped them while i was playing poker (was causing bit of lag) so when i finished playing poker i resumed em! and then i visited the site i use and it had logged me out, and when i logged back in, it said i was banned! now i get some gay page cannot be displayed and i cant upload southpark or lost :(

what site would this be? since mininova is not that bad.

it's rarely ever slow for me on mininova so, dunno

a decent private torrent site will max out your download bandwith on the latest releases (100mb uploaders + a large 100/100 userbase) also releases appear on private sites a good few minutes or sometimes many hours before they appear on mininova/public sites

also unlike nova etc. decent private sites have strict quality control rules (scene releases only or quality internal packs) , so you know you are getting the best quality releases available, and if they are not you will see loads of trusted users point it out in the comments for the release.

0.5 ratio is crap, always upload, thats how torrents work man!

Leave them on for longer than 2 days, upload your own stuff - don't leech what you can't give back.

If you've downloaded over ~1 gb 0.5 is a shite ratio that deserves a ban.

well in my experience it's entirely impossible to have a decent ratio doing that :). The only way for good ratio is downloading files which have more leechers than seeders and are at least 3gb.

That's a common problem with most private trackers. People with assymetric connections do not even get the chance to upload unless they download the files right when they are uploaded. Blame Sweden and its BBB connections :P

Even with a 2MB/320KB connection I have managed to mantain a > 2.0 ratio on FileList, but sometimes I just download episodes from eztvefnet just so I don't fuck my ratio.

indeed, its even harder for us quakers i think, shutting down your client every so often harms your chances of a leecher grabbing stuff off you.

the only way to stay on these sites with low upload speeds is to leave torrents open for weeks, not just days and leave your pc on overnight, every night. People who are not willing to do that should accept the slow speeds and bad quality control of public sites, or alternativly the hassle of newsgroups.

You should play ctf then, every team usually has a warper (or more) doing the flagrunning. ;)

When it is difficult to upload with private sites I usually find a DVD rip or something RAR'd with roughly equal seed/leeches, select one RAR file and upload.

Alternatively you could try uping your own stuff

Yes, that ensures people that are in are going to treat their accounts like gold, and also means banned people are not likely to join again. Usually download speeds on private trackers are awesome.
