They are having a DM game and a "CS" game in one package. There are other game modes for each.

lol, i honestly doubt it will be all that similar to warsow, otherwise they will be spending lots of money etc, for something that is already there (admittedly its still got loads of dev work)

TDM is more than just that. Especially when you're on a proper quad, battle suit, invisibilty, red armor timing team. You have to group with your m8's all the time and share weapons.
I mean, jebus, ctf and cs are nowhere near the same complexity level. Not in any way.

If they wanna reach out to the masses, I honestly think CTF is better then TDM, wich, in my opinion, can look somewhat random(If i didn't knew about all the items on the map).

And if you didn't know, you can find BS, Q, RA & YA on CTF maps too, giving the teams something MORE than just the flag hunt(Compared killing the other team in CS and not just plant/defuse).

If I watched a Q3 TDM for the first time(No gaming experience before), I'd never figure why someone would camp the pillars on DM6. But if it was CTF, i'd probably understand that your protecting your base(and maybe the RA near the base?).

If I was to watch American Football I wouldn't have a clue how it worked and wouldn't be able to understand it either.

You need to grow your fan base from players, not try to get your average joe to spectate the game...

I think CPL wants to get those average Joes. I mean gaming as a sport is "tabu"(dunno the right word to put here). To make it real big, it have to be simple and easy(Minutes to learn hours to master).

For example how big is AM football in the rest of the world compared to soccer? And why?(I like them both)

I get your point(and I do agree), but I'd rather see CTF over TDM and I think CPL wants to get (more) mainstream.

It's the spectating systems fault not the mode.
And if you didn't know I'm probably one of the best cpm ctf players out there :). I just find tdm to be less braindead

on a sidenote vq3 tdm is rather shit compared to ut2k4 and cpm tdm. Dm6 should never have been a tdm map.

I talkt with my friend about weapon dropping. It should not be like in Q2 TDM where one can stack tons of railguns/chaingguns/whatever and drop to the team mates(making one person weapon supplier kindof).

I think they should limit weapons to one per players. So if you drop the rail, you need to pick up a new one. It might seem abvious to some, but im from Q2 so..

"Make EVERY SINGLE WEAPON WEAKER" is so not the answer. Think for a second what a 3-damage MG means when players spawn with 125H.

I'd only make the RG/MG actually weaker:

- Lightning Gun needs to be made weaker in the sense it does the same damage but less shots per second so that dodging skills and predictive LG aim come into play.
- A non-random spread Shotgun would be totally over the top so it would need to be scaled down.
- Railgun needs to be made weaker as it just gives too much damage for too little risk and it's a rather simple weapon to use.
- In fact screw making the MG weaker, the spawn weapon should be more like a high powered pistol slowish fire rate with medium damage (So it's good for doing little bits of damage at long range).

I'm not keen on Tiered/Stronger armours that much as I like how the GL/RL/PG work and changing armours changes them. 100 health spawns only work with a weaker rail (Well unless you like instagib :().

mg at 3 dmg on dm6? the team thats down would have no chance to get back in the game. especially if you made rg weaker too. itd be non stop rape =[

Mainly take rtcw or et as the basic concept.

Look at the fps games the guy involved had a hand in making, they're all terrible. Add in the fact the CPL has no taste when it comes to selecting games, nor even an basic understanding of the criteria for selection in the first place (halo pc etc), and the chances of this game being good are slim to none.

Never tried ET. Though I hope to get a better computer so I can play ET: QW.

download ET and try it, it's really worth it. Perfect mix of CS teamplay and quake (mg style) aim, minus CS's luck element. And it's fast, you can strafe :D

its Not Team Fortress

common CTF without armor/health (regeneration 5hp/sec both armor/health + mega available on the maps) and classes

current NTF setup is 4 classes with different speeds and weapons available for them (2-4 weapons for each class)

so there are powerups and ammo additionally to flags

and it is all


positives:

1) easy to learn the idea of the game (get enemy flag, defend yours with weapons)

2) easy to know (as spectator) what it is happening on the map + funny to watch flag movement + easy to see who is leading =)

3) easier to master some class for the played than to know all weapons/roles

4) more tactical variety than in common CTF


if could be done with air-control and with big number of weapons (more hitscan maybe for the like of CSers, total amount about 15 or even 20, but better little less just balanced =)

and this could be nice =) with the help of CPL it could be wide-spreaded

and every id fan will be happy =))) maybe

in 1x1 still all layout belongs to mappers ;) there can be more weapons to pick from but the better way is to not include ALL weapons in every map =)

more weapons' combinations - more playstyles on different maps

but on same engine in the same game
you can have urban-like map with some weapons not included to not being "unreal" =)

and you can have the map more like from quake/unreal universe with weapons like from quake/unreal

i would like to complete my concept about it all

but i can say few words atm:

1) bring good powerful map editor with 1st beta
2) bring many-many different texture-sets with 1st beta
3) let external (community) mappers create many maps
4) do not forget to put all weapons in 1st beta
5) encourage mappers by the "winner maps will be included in official release"
6) notice the requirement of some variety in maps and weapons' sets for various tactics and styles to be discovered

this will cause massive beta-testing of EVERYTHING

and if more players can find something for their taste - less people will leave the scene. we can combine more communities if everyone can find something suitable for him, his playstyles, his strenghts etc. not bad, yep?

more to that - its not single player, huh? developers will have to do 2-3 maps of each type for 1st beta actually. and maybe community maps then will be just better than created by developers. so developers can focus their work on gamedesign, balance, features. this scheme should really save much time for developers team.

ps: i would say, if weapons will be open for discussing and tweaking, community works will really have influence on the game. maybe the game itself and the people around it will pick the NEEDED SHAPE of everything.
