I like the movie a lot, one of the best UT99 movies imho. he probably used RypelCam and also did a lot of cool things with it (at least seen technically), it seems as if he used RypelCams export options to have the geometry (or tracked objects) in a 3D program and use its features then...just awesome!

I disliked:
- Rammstein
- Outro was very bad too, standard effects, seen in many movies. seen many tutorials about that screen-wall. The cameramovement on it was nice though (as well as the cameramovements of Rypelcam)

There is no such an option in RypelCam for UT99:(. If there was I would use it ofc:D, but I just had to try to make some paths with RCam in UT and identical path in 3dsmax:)

I remember when being a betatester of RypelCam some years ago, that there was a option to export the current viewport (no matter if it was a playing rypelcam or jsut freeflight). What happened was that the coordinates were parsed into the unreal.log file. I had a tool that extracted these and converted the coordinates and cam-angles into Cinema4D-compatible coordinates.

Since I was able to have the map-geometry in Cinema4D too, I had the solution to easily create alphamasks with the 3D program, or to compsite things into the shot that were purely from the 3D app. At that time, I converted the map geometry by using UnrealEd of UT99, exporting the maps geometry with this unreal-ed format .t3d, importing it in UT2003 UnrealEd and creating a static mesh out of it. Then I used the UnrealEd of UT2k3 to export it as Wavefront object which was then usable for almost all 3D programs. however, the map needed to be mirrors and moved to the correct position in the 3D-program, but after that it really worked :)

There is. But dont ask me how it works. Right now i cant remember :( So long ago(already 2 years or even more since i worked on that). And it was never really documented i only mentioned it sometimes. My bad. But i realised noone would use it anyway or if someone would he would work on a movie so complicated that he would never finish. But ok main problem was the documentation that was never finished. But i rated this as low priority.

You won't be able to watch "leet" mid-air rocket kills, but even better frags made in official CB EC/OC games, serious practise games and Inzane ffa.

No, but some people put to movie semi-staged or staged airrocket kills lately, so I just wanted to inform the others that they won't be able to watch such a kills in our movie:)

how can you explain me semi-staged airrocket combo, for example from rocket arena pub? The guy rides my rocket twice or thrice just because he wants to be fragged?

for example when you play deck, have rocket launcher only, take belt, do not shoot at your enemy, let him load rockets and jump before rockets reach you so you get boosted much more. Or just on David2 when you keep jumping from that elevator and hope the other one will hit you:P. Btw it's technically impossible to get three air rockets in UT without using some mutator like low gravity:p

UT had a few movies that showed occasional midair rockets which happened during a "real" game which looked really cool and then it became some sort of contest "play vs the same noob 9234215 times with instant rockets only and make a movie and if ur lucky 1 or 2 frags look skilled" etc. Only a few though, like lucky 7, zwanz fragz0r had actual staged frags, a lot others were what I wrote above and I think it was real bad for the movie making future of the game.. :)

zwanz fragzors didnt have any staged frags acer. What frag was staged? u probably think the intro frag was.. Well it wasnt, it was a freakin real shot during a real match. Mayb it did look fake to u because it was fkn insane (in my point of view) but it just wasnt. Retaliation did have 1 staged frag though (out of 100 frags +-) but i dont care, atleast i can say it brought somekind of revolution that inspired many others to make movies. Damn i never even thought i would visit this website again harhar.

I don't think anything, I don't know what intro frag is it might be bio@codex but I don't have this movie on my hdd and no I didn't think that was staged; I have had sources admitting to agreeing playing games where they were instructed "stand there and jump out repeat till u get hit". One of these examples in lucky 7 was bao^Ghoster which I'm familiar with and one in zwanz frags was Melvin or similar, a friend of an oldschool player I know who didn't even play UT who got asked if he wanted to be in a movie if he did as he was told. I only remember this information vaguely, but it made a lot of sense then because who would dodge off a ledge or jump with boots, have a lot of airtime, and not shooting back at all. Looked ridiculous :)

it was ok, but too long. it takes a lot to make impressive ut frags these days, multikill flag returns dont make the cut

Because it's so much easier to say something rude when you don't have the balls to say it as yourself. Hiding behind anonymity for the sake of being rude is something only a total chicken like yourself would even try to do. Somehow I doubt you said "my personal tastes".

it has some good frags bysides the ultrakill standcombo scenes.
its a fact that showing something outstanding in ut is almost impossible, since the players play constantly on a such a high level that u dont even notice anymore things like superduperfrags.

This is gonna sound quite harsh but in all honesty I don't think it was all that.

I appreciate alot of effort has gone into it, that much is obvious but apart from some nice kill sequences that is pretty much it.

For a start I think it's too long, even after 10 minutes I felt I had been watching it long enough. It's packed full of effects too with alot of them seeming somewhat irrelevant (half way through, 3 level wireframes are drawn, but its not like that fades into a scene or anything, also there is a short sequence with a heartbeat, whats that all about?).

Not that I could do anywhere near as good though!
