might be able to take as luggage depending on how big the items are? I mean people/professionals lug all sorts of shit through airports as long as they pay the price, I'm sure my luggage coming back from the states was around 40 kilo and that was just two cases and I had to pay little overhead.

Oh nah, I need to ship things from Sweden -> North America. I'm not going to be travelling there myself so the luggage thing isn't an option.

I'm afraid 80kg is what almost noone ever sends as a private person.
For companies speed and security is always more important and normal people either send less or a lot more (half a container or so).

Might be a good idea to call some bigger shipping companies and ask if they have some space left on their transports and then try to pick the stuff up from their destination. Only done that nationally, tho.

best thing would be i guess if you put everything in a few cartons (or one big), put the carton on a pallet and wrap it up. don't forget a good identification (address etc) which has to be clearly visible. otherwise it might get lost.

airfreight is of course way faster, but MUCH MUCH more expensive than seafreight which might take three weeks or so...

i'd suggest you simply call a few logistics companies nearby and ask for a quote etc.

I moved from Northern Ireland to Spain! :D

I hired a van, and drove from Northern Ireland, onto a ferry, across to Scotland. Then drove down from Scotland to Preston in England (where the removal company was based) then unloaded our crap and drove the whole way back. It actually saved us a load of money.

But I'm afraid I can't recommend any large international movers, only that one which we used, but it's based in england.

Hireing movers for 80kg, are you joking. Buy a trolley pack this stuff up put it on the trolley and go to the airport.

I take about twice as much with me on 10 day holidays all packed in the car > plane > rented car.

do you have to pay extra for that? i'm interested as i'll probably have to go back home to India soon. when i flew to Canada via lufthansa, i was only allowed 48kg in a maximum of 2 travel bags + hand luggage. i've bought some stuff over here which would add to 48 kilos i brought with me so i'm wondering how to take everything back when i go.

you'll get it through, you must have noticed people at the airport with insane amounts of luggage, especially professionals and so on.

I think most airlines like to know in advance so they know how much weight they'll be carrying, and then you just pay the extra.
