if you the patch and q4max installed, its most likely you just have to connect to a server and automatically download the stuff you need to play from the server.

isn't there a mappack somewhere? I want to run a server on my uni network

probably depends what maps you want.. ;) duel, ctf, tdm. on the eswc newspost there was a mappack attached which probably is a good start.
in 1.4.2 there is already the CMP (community mappack) included, where phrantic is in for exmaple.

for other maps check clanbase file section or escapedturkey.net

One more question: I'm playing on lan, without internet connection but it keeps trying to authorize my cd key, can I disable that somehow?

if no internet connection is detected the game will skip the online CDKEY check

you must have a pirated copy of the game ;)

internet cd-key check was disabled in 1.1 or 1.2
