Bunch of photos that i've taken over the past few months as usual. The borders on some of them are too big imo. I try to edit in photoshop as little as possible. All but last taken near home.

some olympus slr. i gotta work on the borders, i think photos look naked without them, but too much isnt good.

as far as subject are concerned, i could spend all day taking landscapes here, and i have done it to death so i'm trying to learn to take shots of smaller objects. its good fun playing with shutter-speed, f-stop etc etc, but i think i still prefer panoramas anyday.

edit: changed the worst borders now because they were really annoying me

Damn right, I used to ski the pow but I switched to the dark side recently. Though I sometimes do miss blasting down the slope or doing a mogul run, snowboarding is much more natural and laidback. Not going to ski anytime soon I fear :>

Edit: Usually like your pics, photography is cool. I will have to dish out some money for a SLR sometime.

the type of camera has a lot to do with the pictures.

On the one hand some things are simply not possible with cheap/bad cameras.
On the other hand it's interesting to know for people who want to buy a new camera, so they can see the possibilities it offers.

it has a lot to do with the technical accuracy of the reproduction of the two dimensional projection of the scene, but for about 70 some years it has absolutely nothing to do with the artistically subjective qualities of a photo!

you are only halfway correct.

Of course what the viewer sees in the picture does not depend on the camera. However if the artist is actually able to realize his vision very much depends on the camera.
Short example: If you want to take a high resolution picture of a night sky with a long exposure time you better don't use the camera of your cellphone.

Any of those photos could have been taken with any $50< camera, as there is no very shallow DOF and they're all downsized. If you don't see that, than I'm afraid you don't know much about photography, therefore you would be right, arguments like that won't lead anywhere.

every manufacturer has a line with those, my favorite are the fujis p/s, they all do. This is actually irrelevant for these photos because like I said, they don't have very shallow DOF and with an automatic you can still freeze the meter/af.

If tom had indeed made these pictures with a <$50 camera that would be a good piece of advice for anyone asking what camera it was, wouldn't it.

As in "No, you don't have to spend more than $50 to take pictures like these. you just need dedication, patience and lot's of attempts."
