Imo the extra pk3's are useless. Get rid of that and just get Q3-+latestCPMA+ancientOSP and we are set. The special packs (even if they don't broke server compatibility) are not helping in setting a standard.

This is simply not major esports news. Nor is this even Q3 news. People don't need it like they need the latest CPMA update to simply play Q3. This is a downloader for certain Quake3 files. Sure, it could be useful if you CBA to use google. But it doesn't do anything new, nor does it make anything GROW. Lastly, Q3 is NOT equal to ESR and ESR is NOT equal to esports. That statement is pretty stupid.

Delete this news please, and sorry for the problem. If you don't find this program useful, that's fine. I respect that.

The screen shot shows a cd key section. You'd have to be a fool to download this kind of program -- especially if the program blatantly knows your cd key and has access to the Internet. There's a chance it might be sharing it. I am not making any sort of accusations, it could be 100% safe, but really people should think twice before using such utilities -- especially if the screen shot even shows it knows your 'confidential information'.

Only real problem is that it probably needs its own home page so it's not buried on some website that presents a language barrier to a good portion of the internet. (no offense =) )

It is stupid for you, but it doesn't mean that the whole world thinks the same way. We don't live in the matrix and even if we do, you are not the creator of this world :)

I 100% agree with you. In the perfect world, we wouldn't need any other mods, just CPMA and threewave/rocket arena maps.

However, we live in the real world. The real world has Wallgreens and people who continue to play outdated modifications like OSP and RA3. It might suck, but unless you can go to each one of those server admins and convince them that it would be in their best interests to change from RA3 to Multiarena CPMA running VQ3 physics on RA3 maps, we will continue to have RA3 servers.

And before you actually go about doing that, here's a quick question for you. Why should they change? Changing from RA3 to CPMA will force people to download a new unknown modification, break people's RA3 configs, convince people that you're switching to CPM physics (It's true, I've found that some people think that CPMA only has CPM physics and don't realize that it also has VQ3 physics as well), lead to a bunch of cg_placebo whine, all for what? Better netcode? Frequent updates that don't even effect VQ3?

For sure, if you can somehow convince them to switch, I'll be 100% for it. The main thing that CPMA needs, at least here in the US, are more 'public' servers that are already running some predefined gametype. All-in-one servers that you can vote anything on have their uses in pickups and duels, but for pubbies, having one or two reliable servers where you can ALWAYS be guaranteed to find some Clan Arena or CTF action going on are crucial. It's way better than joining a random server, voting VQ3 Clan Arena and hoping people join.

I tried the program for the first time (since I'm formatting soon anyway) and it baffles me how a "program" that's basically just a simple downloader+unzipper can be +5mb.
You also lack an option box to unselect hack pk3 files (which the 3 additional files in the cpma dir are).
It also stopped at 94% with the message DONE!
It doesn't even make shortcuts to start the game, which would be newb friendly
Plus the irony of your chosen name for a newb help program isn't lost ;)

It's a nice enough effort, but it could have been done better and simpler. You could have done it purely in a browser. It would be much less suspicious.
