I'm PRETTY sure that the mouse is a USB mouse, therefore, a digital connection. Since digital connections are either on or off, it explains your mouse going off, and not just malfunctioning.

It could be a worn down small wire inside the cord for your mouse. Bending it a certain way can make that cable lose the connection, therefore, turn it off.

It's a theory, but I'm not sure.

With something as frustrating as that (Since it's not related to drivers, it's related to the mouse hardware its self) it's easier, and probably cheaper, to just buy a new 3.0 mouse.

The cable's crapping out.

Had the same problem with my mx518. Tried different software versions, tried different USB slots, even tried the mouse on some other computer with no drivers at all and nothing worked. I ended up buying a new one and it works like a charm.

I recently had the same problem with my mx510, and I know some of my buddies have had the same problem as well. There's really nothing you can do except getting a new mouse.
Blessed as I was having a Logitech mouse I just just send an email to them complaining about the issue. I even said it was three years old and I didn't have the reciept from the time I baught the mx510, and they still send me a new mx518. FREE OF CHARGE! They even appologized to me for not being able to send me an mx510 instead of a mx518.
Now that's good customer care. =P

test it on other usb inputs. did u used some usb hz haxxorz?

open the mouse, fixx the cable inside and it will work fine, at least it did for me. Have had this problem a few times with my old mx510 mouses but always fixxed it.

this will fix it. I did it on a MX510 I had. I checked on my IE3.0 and it looks like you should be able to fix the cord.

The cords generally break right at point they enter the mouse. If you pull that length of the cord into the shell far enough so that it wont bend and then secure it somewhere with tape in a position that is "on" the mouse will work fine. By "on" I mean take the mouse apart while it's plugged in so you can see if the mouse is on in the new cord position you're about to set.

Had this too. Turned out it was the mainboard that had faulty USB (MSI mainboard).

had it with 3 different ms3.0 mice. just replaced and eventually upgraded to razer :-[

Had the exact same problem with ms3.0. Just replaced the cable from an ms4.0 mouse, plugs in easy peasy!
