if the game is releasing for PC why would you need GGPO support? i'm assuming that it will have online multiplayer and it should attract more people than GGPO ever would seeing as it's new and shiny.
I mean, maybe I'll buy it for the 360 too, but, as AquaShark said, GGPO has proved it's just much more comfortable to have online fighting games on the same platform you have IRC, MSN, web browsers, etc. Consoles are still much more comfortable on LAN though.
Not to mention in this generation the PC is the most compatible platform when it comes to peripherals because both PS3 and 360 controllers will work on PC, and you can easily find lagless converters for all previous console controllers, which you can't for PS3 and 360.
The countdown timer is for a big annoucement as mentioned in the latest blog entry of the Japanese Street Fighter Dev blog which was posted on the american site:
"5.27.08 “Preparing the big news!” - Project Manager: Natsuki Shiozawa
Good afternoon, everyone! Thanks to everyone who came out this past weekend in Tokyo and in Osaka for our location test, it was a great success thanks to you guys! We’re really thankful that all of you decided to join us! For those who weren’t able to join in on the fun, don’t worry! We’re really close to our summer release, so just hang in there a little bit longer!
Now then! On May 30th we’ll be revealing a fourth new character via our site’s Character section. I guess all of those guys who went to the location test were thinking that someone would pop up during the test, but we’re sorry… The big reveal is going to be on our official site.
Also, we’ll be revealing the final boss of the game too! What kind of techniques will this boss use to crush everyone!?
One more thing! This month in Las Vegas is Capcom’s Capitvate ‘08 event, which was also known as Gamer’s Day last year. At that event, we’ll be revealing some ultra big news for everyone! The 5/30 edition of Weekly Famitsu, and on this official site will contain the same announcement too!
For the big announcement, Producer Ono-san is on his way to Las Vegas now, so please wish him all the best on his flight!
Sorry for leaving you guys all hanging until Friday, but make sure to keep your ears to the ground at the end of this week for the big news! (Copied from the US Capcom Blog)
They say they will announce their FOURTH new character, but they already have C. Viper, Abel, El Fuerte, and Rufus as new characters. This probably just means that they will announce Rufus officially on their homepage (Street Fighter IV Japanese homepage), even though he was revealed at the fourth location test.
By the way, Famitsu normally gets leaked one day before its official release. :-)
for gamepads it all breaks down to how good the D-Pad is.
XBOX controller is really shitty in that aspect, PS is good.
keyboard is great except for 360 moves or multiple punches/kicks presses abuse for certain characters.. but i'm sure SF4 will have binds like 3P or 3K, even console games have them.
i player way better on KB than on gamepad (and i really tried to adjust). i find KB directional controls to be more precise than my stiff gamepad.
is a stick considered to be the best controller? i have an idea that a stick with really big buttons that is really really heavy would be nice but i have little experience in fighting games
I've got another problem too. I seem to have problems performing this while my character is standing on the left.
I mean, in general my abilities depend on whether my character is standing on the left or right. How can I improve my skills?
i used to think there was nothing better than the sega genesis six button controller for fighting games but i kinda got used to a keyboard and it's not too bad really. like aquashark said, only 360 moves are a problem,.
Keyboard ftw! For example i get 99% shoryukens right with keyb, but it depends on your ability with your fingers. I studied piano for 5 years when kid and used keyboards for, err, 20 years so... your mileage may vary.
Sweet news indeed since Wii is the only new console I have.
Custom stick in hands, HDTV before me - who cares what the system behind is as long as it runs well? And I'm fairly sure my PC will. Unless Ryu's penis makes it more demanding than Crysis.
awesome!
some of the characters look a little weird, but other characters and especially the fighting style look impressively close to the original.
I loved playing SF2, and I will definitely try this one out.
the xbox is becoming more and more attractive ...
I already regret having bought a wii somewhat ...
bioshock, assassins creed, grand theft auto iv...
so many good games :-(
and now street fighter iv ...
it's a complete gaming pc for 200 euros ...
and all the games run fine ...
but well gaming is over for me anyway ...
there is only one last game left to play for me ...
zelda ocarina of time on my wii virtual console,
after this I will end gaming ...
but for serious console gamers, the xbox seems to be the system.
game has gone gold for arcade version, now they will start porting for PC/consoles. i hope it doesn't take them too long even though they'll add new characters exclusive to these home versions :)
Aside from that, one of the youtube videos had this comment in it;
"Chun-Li looks fucking sexy omfg!
If she was real I'd love to lick those thighs and slowly rub her anus, thus moving to her pussy with my toungue, until she twitches beggin me to stop.
"
SF4 will be most likely released over Steam or Gamer's Gate.
