Yeah, it's a little outrageous, but I like the bigger plot behind the science crap. It isn't awfully original, but hardly anyting is these days.
The protagonist's acting is rather bad as well

supposedly the bear grylls stuff is fake, but i watch it anyway. he amuses me.

It's not "fake" as he is doing the stuff in the episodes.

It's pretty obvious that some things he does are setup (jumping in the ice water for example) but the idea is he's showing people what you should/can do in certain situations.

There was one episode where he was rumoured to have stayed in a hotel (stranded on a desert island episode) overnight. Whether he did or not I've no idea but I couldn't care less since every other episode is in the middle of nowhere with no hotels I'm pretty sure he can handle a night on a beach.

Sadly he got so much whine about this from morons that in the newer series they just walk about talking to local people and showing the camera crew...

fake was the wrong word. what i should have added was that some of the advice given is considered incorrect.

such as drinking your own urine or doing a tiring, risky climb just to get two quail-sized eggs.

Well, yeah that's the other thing he got whined at for. I don't understand why though since he was given a time limit for getting out of the places so he had to do extreme things (And to make it more exciting).

If people wanted an educational series on how to live in the wild they could just watch Ray Mears turn a leaf into a flourishing city rather than Bear Grylls.

Now it's ruined :(

I should download his Iceland episode. Should be good for unintentional comedy.
