Hehe I expected someone to write that this example was not good (that's kinda why did I write 'btw') :) But still, do you think that presenting different opinion (as long as it doesn't lead to aggresion/racism etc.), even if it's about thing like holocaust, should be illegal? To be honest, some time ago I thought so (for example Irving's case) but when I think about it... hey, even if something seems obvious, it doesn't mean it's true. I am not antisemit but that's how does it actually look in Poland - when you say something 'bad' about Jews (even if they do something obviously wrong and you just criticize them), you are qualified as antisemit but of course they can do whatever they want to do.

Back on topic - I don't think it's such a big thing. Even though I am a Pole I don't really care if they use this kind of advert or not but I can easily understand why people take it as offensive (paricularly catholics in general, not only "whining Polaks"). The problem with circumcision as a protective means against HIV is that the supporters set up a hypothetical scenarios which nowhere in the world exist. In the field of medicine it is virtually unanimous conclusion that circumcision as a medical practise is about as effective as heating a room with a candle and only makes things a whole lot worse. Why? Because the disease is so deeply rooted in human behavior that without proper sex education the protective effect is lost. The debate you're presenting isn't inside the field of medicine, but medicine against the nutjobs. Except of course the whole list of harmful effects of circumcision.

lol what kind of question is that? All nations do more or less "wrong things", don't they? But if you want some more detailed examples of the problem I presented... For example Gaza conflict. I am not arguing who was right, but of course there were people who were "cheering" for both sides. And naturally people who criticized Israel (they were NOT saying things like "Palestinians, kill more Jews!") and their warfare were considered as antisemits.

Another funny story - there is some philosopher (professor) who appears in catholic media quite often (even though he is an atheist). Media removed last part of his statement and presented him as an antisemit, lol.

Yes, in the vast majority of cases even if something is offensive to some you should be allowed to say it. The holocaust is something of a special case because it's a cause célèbre for Right wing racist hate groups who're only using it to stir up trouble. The standard example is should you be allowed to shout 'fire' in a crowded room, this would be a case where you shouldn't as you're responsible for the likely negative consequences of a normal reaction to what you say (normal, nutty Muslims killing people because you drew a stick figure called Muhammed isn't normal by any stretch).

getting offended have become a trend these days. you can read every week from newspaper someone making lawsuits because they have been offended.
