People will be able to sign up for the Quake Live tournament at the event. We dont take signups online.

cpm fox vs vo0 on lan, that's got to be up there with the best, like vorpal vs vo0 online.

It would be if either would practice, vo0 especially I doubt will put in enough time for it to be interesting, fox will destroy him with aim.

Well, ParadokS played LocKtar in the 3rd place decider match.

The match was played best of 5.
And after 4 close maps (exept dm6) it was 2-2, and the only map left was aerowalk, ending with LocKtar beating ParadokS badly.

It was the best match of the tournament and kinda decided who won the Warzon trophy (MVP) - It's me to the right of LocKtar btw.

For people poking fun at signups - isn't it obvious? Any quake tournament will pull this kind of response now. Would you really spend hundreds of dollars to travel to an event in another country just to likely go home empty handed? Would you take time away from work for a source of income that likely won't be around the next year? Not only is this unreasonable, it's completely retarded.

The pro-gaming fantasy is over. Go play what you have fun with, and let the community make the tournaments instead of the tournaments making the community.

Attending DreamHack is more than just the "chance of winning some ca$h playing quake", it's the chance to get to play my favorite game at the biggest lan event in the world. And I'm ready to waste money on that.

If you take gaming for what it is for most, a hobby - then using money to travel to DreamHack isn't that crazy after all. Think about what people use on their motorcycles, cameras, cars, snowboarding trips you name it. Everyone needs a hobby, and nothing comes free.

Of course there are some who can get time away from school/work or who can afford to take the loss, but the people making fun of signups because most people don't have that opportunity are just being ignorant.

Regarding the low amount of signups, I think it's more to do with the lack of information available, at least for QuakeWorld.

All we knew was that there was gonna be a 16 player duel tournament in Jönköping, Sweden - somewhere between June 13 and June 16.

For those working, it would have made it easier had the crew announced what days the tournament was scheduled for.

After I got confirmation on the tournament being scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. More qw players decided to sign up.

i'd go if i could afford it. damn the prize money, it would be fun just to play in it

Why do you think so?

I don't see anyone running the risk of tournament play in CPM, VQ3, or any quake. ESWC went under, and there's no guarantee that this would be around next year. A few people here and there will attend, likely most of them will live nearby, but I wouldn't expect a big representation in almost any game (including CS with it's recent rapid decline) for many years.

June is quite a busy month so I don't blame them.

I'm just happy for those who are willing just to put up a show for us, even if they know they'll probably lose more money then win. It's about fun and excitement, most people have forgotten.

Don't forget DreamHack is a LAN party and the tournaments are just attributes. Try looking at the bigger picture instead of just the money, quake stars and winning.
