After the recent news that the once legendary studio 3D Realms are shutting down, former employee Brian Brewer has released a video showcasing the gameplay of Duke Nukem Forever. He at least claims that this video was intended to be shown only to selected game developers, not the general public. However, these kind of videos has a tendency to sooner or later spread all over the Internet.
the comma needs to be there. The "then" is acceptable, even though it is not needed.
But there needs to be "will future" in the main clause.
Also the sentence desperately needs an insult.
"If you insist on giving English lessons, (then) I'll suggest you go learn it beforehand, retard."
/edit
On second thought, the main clause in present tense already refers to the future, so it is most likely an acceptable exception. In that case they only mistake is having a superfluous "then" and not adding a "retard" or a comparable insult.
to me "teach lessons" sounds cruder, but then again I'm a foreign speaker so I hardly count.
Actually, I always think it sound more "hostile" than "give lessons".
So, I guess you'll have to argue about that with people who write dictionaries and the bbc news site ;)
In any case, I doubt you can make a point that it is wrong.
in german you "give hours" for certain things, e.g the piano. You wouldn't use it for a school teacher, but someone who gives seperate, private lessons.
but here the translation for "to teach" which is "lehren" is hardly ever used. Instead we use on of several way tho paraphrase it.
Well,
It looks really outdated, lots of scripts etc...
but could be cool.
Retrieve the models and make a doom3 mod (d3 lightnings are a lot more evolved and universes could match)
duke nukem 3d was one of the best 1v1 MP games... Kali, heat, ten the good ol' days. Can't go wrong with profane, obscene and nudity in a fps video game.
could have been a great game.. it had great potential, at least since it mimics duke3d right down to the bosses and maps shown(football field, and where the aliens guts are blown away, so he sits and gurgles) well.. might just play through d3d once again!.. seriously, it's still a great game..
someone might get their hands on a leaked version, clean it up a bit, and release it on various torrent sites anyway.. happened with other games (internal betas with early content, that got ripped from final game)..
im playin it right now with best port called eDuke.
there is a new textures pack right now, but enemys look like shit. dont use it. use eduke only, maybe with the new sound packet.
There's some rumour about Broussard showing DNF to take2 and they offered him 30 million if he sold the IP and shit but he refused. Another rumour says they only needed some 5 million to get it done. The vid looks $$$ :(
3D Realms doesn't exist anymore so not even sure the game is going to be finished and released except if a other company takes the Duke title and finishes the game.
in the end, maybe it's better it's dead ; the game would have suffer from slow action because of joypad's limitations (dnf would have been released on consoles too)
and I guess they're unplayable
but nowadays consoles have the high ground when it comes to "to which device the gameplay will be aimed, and which platform will adapt"
havn't you played any cross-platform fps these past few years ? slow boring crap that you could beat without difficulty using your left hand for mouse
Those fps you talk about are combat sims, they are naturally slow, regardless of platform. However, the death match-style of fps games are still fast. Just look at games like Quake 3, Quake 4, Unreal Tournament and so on, released both for the console and PC yet are still fast games on the PC.
q3 and ut (even 2004) are way too old
I'm talking about the xbox360/ps3 generation, which took over the market and are served first, and then maybe pc will have a shitty port if we've been good boys not pirating too much
q4 sp is pretty slow, same for doom 3 btw
I don't really want to argue about what seems to me obvious stuff about vg industry anyway, think whatever you want but you would waste your time -and mine- to try to convince me otherwise on that topic
Well, if you think Q4 is too slow then there isn't much more for me to say, I agree, especially since you seem to think Unreal Tournament 3 being too old (which was released both for ps3 and PC).
ut3 is another story
it was made for pc then adapted to console (I'm talking about gameplay there, not menu features) ; one of a kind for this gen
anyway whatever, that's just one lonely game ; there are tons of cross-platforms games, and most of them, in a very large majority, are made for console then ported to pc without adjusting the gameplay to the allmighty mouse/keyboard
also : dunno if you've played q4 SP or if you're just badly trolling, but yes the action is way slower than in any other quake sp
anyway, q4 is also a special case because of raven dumbness, it's not just joypad vs mouse
I agree that Q4 SP is slow.
I'm also telling you that Q4 MP is relatively slow on the XBox (since they're stuck at 1.0, so none of the 1.3 / 1.4 speedups are there)
anyway, slow or fast, quake mp on a console is a waste of time since you can't even manage to strafe jump with a joypad
hopefully next console's gen will have mouse/keyboard bundled in order to surf the web on these hd tv, and therefore play fps/tps/rts with them too
