Id Software has released some pictures of the first new map which will be added to quakelive in the near future, in what they call their "6 new maps in 6 weeks" campaign. The other five maps will be a mixture of brandnew and classic remake maps.

The map is called Hidden Fortress, and was originally a part of the sega dreamcast version of quake 3. According to the blurb the conversion is a medium sized map with three main rooms - perfect for 6-10 player team deathmatch, clan arena and free for all gameplay.

The quake 3 sega dreamcast mappack for pc, played with the old patch 1.16n, allowed to connect dreamcast and pc players to played against each other. the pack contained 2 new ffa maps, "Hidden Fortress" dc_07 and dc_15 "Gaze of the Abyss". Hidden was the better one, i can remember.

q3 remake standalone versions of both maps are released along time ago.

This has been brought to Q3 almost as long ago. I'd say it would be more like 60%+ of the population have played this map.

You must have missed the part where I said

more like 60%+

I was pointing out the fact that the majority of people who have played Q3 have likely played DC maps - which I specifically left open to the possibility of inaccuracy. Perhaps you meant to reply to this? He's certainly making unreasonable and absolute claims!

Have fun making excuses and justifying your position, though.

He doesn't have to because he's just stating an opinion based on whatever his knowledge is.

I personally wouldn't put it that high, but I would agree that a lot of people have at the very least seen the map before.

For FFA, it's fine. It could possibly work out for TDM, but it was no good for duel.

the map was a good ffa map,
for clanarena its to small, for tdm the rooms are not good. but id will remake the map.

i think id will do a remake version of -the edge-. but the version from the osp mappack sucked in q3.

Cheers for originality.. ID has thousands of people playing quakelive and they can't even cough up some original maps. If ID refuses to dedicate resources into making newer better maps could they at least let other people who are willing do it for them?
