I haven't played vq3 since 2002 so i can't remember the sound system. But in cpm the sound is closely matching q2, but where as quakelive, you can be stood around a corner and not hear something that is right next to you.. not sure how to explain but 90% of a quakelive duel i don't hear the enemy unless they are infront of me :[ (maybe it's my soundcard? or headset?)

But I think in vq3 (top) players are relying as much on sound as in cpm, maybe more because of the footstep sounds. cpm is too fast to be sneaky imo, even with faster running speed and without footsteps most players bunnyhop like crazy, probably because while doing it they are much harder to hit (air control).

If that's not true, why won't CPMA players just walk instead of bunnyhop so they cannot be located by sound AND are harder to hit?

I don't play CPM but I guess it's the same reason as VQ3, because it's faster.

Not the same reason, in vq3 it doesn't matter because of footsteps, also in vq3 you have almost no air control so if you jump you are an easy target, where with CPM you can turn or stop in the air.

So as I said, it seems speed is the difference in cpma, you are harder to hit while bunnyjumping at say 1000 ups then just walking at 500 ups. Else the top players just wouldn't do it.

The only advantage cpm has as far as bunnyhopping and air control is it makes it easier to get in or get out of a fight.

I don't know why you wrote that first sentence, but I couldn't agree more.

He sweared until the very end that he was not cheating, athough there were demos who blatantly proved his cheating.

So I came to the conclusion most cheaters manage to have almost a split personality when it comes to their cheating, it is almost impossible to get cheaters to admit it. Being friends with a cheater does not give you any more insight wether he/she cheats or not.

Nah street fighter 4 on the PC is my new game.

I really wanted to play quakelive, but I can't be bothered with a 10 yr old game which has not evolved.

The weapons are the same.
The physics are the same.
The maps are the same. (ok so no one will play new maps)
The tactics are the same.

There is nothing left to do with it. /callvote dm6, ztn, dm13, seriously. yawn.

What makes street fighter so great is it has so many different characters, match up possibilites, they add new stuff.

It'll have over 3 million players by the end of the year, tons of tourneys every other month and streams with 25,000+ people and a skillset and community that was entering tournaments before quake was invented. AND its not RTS or some geeky guild type game. its a cool, fun, fast, aracde game with players with 20 years worth of experience. Its the ultimate duel game really.

You can even play online and lag is a much less important factor than something like quake.

As a game model its just too appealing to miss.
i'll still spec and rage online with ESR though.

Quake Live feels really dull and simple compared to cpm. Sad is probably a more encapsulating word, i really didn't enjoy Quake Live at all so far, the only thing i do enjoy is playing a lot of PCWs with my TDM clan, but i'm thinking of quitting because it's such a depressing game.

Writing things like "you think it's easy? then become the best/beat someone who has been playing for years" is not really fair.

I remember discussion which has been going for months, about Call of Duty 4. Many players (those from other games) were saying that it's a simple game while "hardcore" CoD4 players were insisting that it requires as much skill as, for example, Quake games.

And why was this discussion going? Because zoom claimed that CoD is an easy game and after few months his team (zoom + some players from Quake and other games) will be able to beat top teams. Somehow it didn't work and usually top teams were crushing them. Still, in my opinion, it doesn't change fact that this game is quite "simple".

(Nonethless I don't know if "simple" is a proper word to describe QL, "boring" fits it better).

ql feels dull period. takes skill but 0 fun to play.

Try CPM, all the high's of an FPS without any of the headwork!
