I am self proclaimed nerd, i love video games, i love movies, i love cars, i love high tech cultures such as japan. i look back to past events past times and think i wish as was there then! watching documentaries about old video games such as 'king of kong' and 'chasing ghosts' and wish i had been about at the start of it all.
i wouldnt have been at the top like the people depitced in the videos but i would have been involved with it all, been a part of it.
and then i look to the future.
As i said i am never going to be at the top in any of these games past or present but then im glad to have been a part of it since. It's all about the fun of the games.
I started playing games in roughly 1987 or so when i think we got the amiga and from then on I've loved every minute of it from the greats on the amiga such as more or less any sensible software game through to syndicate and frontire and then finding consoles such as nes, psx, dreamcast to name but a few. nowadays i still play games from all genres and times dating right back to the original game 'spacewar' right up till various ps3 and xbox 360 games and pc games such as quakelive, gta4 and eventually starcraft 2.
i dont think ill ever stop playing video games and to be honest i hope i never do.
im glad of the time ive spent playing them from the aformentioned amiga and pretty much any game in between then and now.
hopefully in say 10 years time ill be able to look back and say to my kids 'i was there' in terms of the multiplayer boom, however nerdy that makes me. the past 12 years have been the greatest of my video gaming 'career' being a part of the online multiplayer contingent. playing all the games at the start of the great deathmatch scene and looking back with fond memories of the games and people ive played with. starting with quake 1, jumping on a server with guys from school, changing colors so we are the same and adding some small clan tag and then moving onto real clans for tdm, ra3 and cctf. playing online with my clans mainly *TeamFear*, 2DIE4 and CGA and meeting alot of great guys along the way from the few clans ive been in as well as communities.
as i stated earlier ive always been a HUGE fan of video games and whilst ive never been at the top ive always been there and been a part of what i could. Hopefully ill be able to pass this knowledge on and pass on all the great tournaments, games and insight, basically just a part of this amazing culture that ive been able to be a part of!
ill admit im a bit drunk writing this so its not very well written but to be honest it would have been worse if i was sober. when i thought about writing this it made alot more sense and meant alot more but im shit at describing what i meen/feel =)
long live video games and long live nerds!
