I am not very good at detecting (non-obvious) cheaters via demos. If there's an official decision to kick pstarz, then some ESL guy must have reasons for this, I just want to hear them.

That's exactly the problem here. Everyone assumes that if he is Yuka then he must cheat. However, no one seems to care that this is only an assumption (or, to say better: guess) which still must be proven. If you want honest and objective judgement, you need to disregard all you feelings towards Yuka and his cheating history, imagine that he is some new unknown player, focus on the match under suspicion and try to detect any signs of cheating, throwing off all your possible predispositions towards him.
It is still not clear to me, whether such investigation was done officially, or if Yuka is banned just because he's Yuka, and not because there were actual cheats detected in his game. All that was officially proven is that he used a fake nickname, and for that pstarz got penalty points in accordance with the rules. I have yet to see official ESL reasons to suspect him of cheating.

LLL made a timetable of the demo for accusation, the demo was reviewed by several admins and voted on, the overall vote was guilty

Like a jury in a trial, the jury is not there to explain their decision but to reach a judgement. There is no right and wrong, just subjective opinions. Personally I hate demo analysis votes but unfortunately. they're a necessary evil.

I think it was not right decision to kick pstarz. Giving it a lost match vs LLL would be enough. Now this tournament is just less interesting ...

Keeping a high profile player or showing that the rules apply to everyone, what to do, what to do?

If they showed proof of Yuka cheating then I would agree with this decision, I don't think they should be kicked from the tournament for using someone who is impersonating someone, just give them a loss to LLL and penalty points

Looking at the quotes from pstarz players it seems fairly obvious that they were aware that this wasnt the real Shub yet the still let him play for them - this should be enough really, especially because of the epic level of bad manners it is to impersonate someone like that.

For this they got only penalty points, all according to the rules. There is no rule that pstarz (or anyone else) should be kicked just for playing with a fake dude.
They were kicked not because shub was fake, but because he allegedly cheated. But as you say, the rules are for everyone, so even for Yuka it must be proved that he cheated, it can't be just assumed that he did because he's Yuka.

defwin for LLL would have been unfair for all other teams in the group. Rematch or kick were the only two possible decisions

well the esl has explicit rules about stuff like. they just added up the according penalty points and did what resulted from this.
there never was a choice between keeping and kicking. they were looking into what pstarz did wrong and followed the ruled they had from the start

ESL made the right call to kick pstarz at any rate, you simply can't be allowing teams to go about doing that kind of stuff in a league that's trying to be professional.

sure, but you cant do case decisions in a bigger league. i read the whole topic about how to handle the situation. i liked the idea only to ban the player and to replay the lll game.
