CPL was very successful when started with q3. ESWC was very successful until the year they dropped Q3. Once u drop it, it doesn’t help bringing it back later. Both dropped it, show their mistake (for CPL took years for that) and brought it back, but was too late then.

Also, let me remind you that Quake (and doom before that), started all this so called e-sport thing. At those days, playing online against human opponents was almost unheard of and kind of underground … since most ppl were playing from their basement anw :PPPP

I mean, if there would be eswc tourney with prize poll of 25000 there would be at least 5-6 top tier oldschoolers back to game(toxjq, czm, fatal1ty, zero4?). These eswc and wcg corporations are all the same, they want profit, and they won't get it if someone doesn't pay them to put their games on list. That's just how it works.

This weekend a big e-sports event was supposed to be held in Toulouse, France, the E-Games Festival. The organizing company was DIP Organisation, owned by Stéphane Cosse, the buyer of the ESWC brand and this was going to be the fourth edition.

I live in Barcelona. Toulouse is just 4 hour trip. Cosse said before the summer that there was a chance the ESWC to be held in Toulouse. I planned to attend to get to know the people that are planning to relaunch the ESWC. I was very curious as Cosse's also the guy behind ClickArena's epic fail.

Yesterday morning we (myself and my associate) arrived at the Toulouse Fair, the supposed venue, and -big surprise- there was no event.
