couldn't stand the casting, guy spent like 10minutes lambasting some random player because he didn't like a quad run lol...

I didn't like several quad runs actually :) i thought they we're rubbish and boring to watch, it clearly wasn't the best game either team has played. If you thought that both teams had a good game with quads then you're clearly deluded. I'm not afraid to point out mistakes and if you want me to spend 20minutes each map calling play by play commentary based on zero in-game knowledge, then feel free to signup to www.livestream.com and do it yourself. Although i have to admit, i did feel myself going on abit about that. Zolee taking quad when his teammate had double stack was pretty amusing and it's things like that, which get me annoyed.

Thanks for your input though, was my first time casting a TDM match that i did not have control of myself, lashknife had the video and we were trying to co-ordinate the cast between ourselves for the first time, not to mention that lashknife's microphone wasn't working which made things even more difficult. I even explained several times on the cast to bear with us, so if you feel that you can't then just don't watch. Nobody is forcing you.

But sorry for any issues, we will provide a better service next time. I understand that at times i am a little to critical on things however as a player myself, i get annoyed by it, so sorry.

I have watched the dm7 vod. You obviously have no fking idea about QL tdm. You had a fixa idea about whos gonna win, were a k1ck fanboy and thats hardly acceptable as a shoutcaster.

I'm not stupid and for you to come here and reply to my post having watched only one map, of which i based entirely on the other 2 maps on makes absolute no sense atall.

You almost lost to k1ck having took 95% of the quads through the entire game. you should have won by a larger margin on all 3 maps. However the way you played meant that k1ck on paper should have won by a mile had they communicated and taken quad, because the score was relatively close all the way through despite that. You did move like a unit and we're never alone, where as k1ck often were :)

So stop crying and do your entire team a favour by discussing what exactly you did wrong - everybody knows you guys play 24/7 and even now your in no position to beat a team like fnatic, who actually do something with their 20 minutes. Your obviously close, but you're still missing something.

Seems that u don't really understand who is who in QL. I never seen any k1ck player on a big quake tour. Garpy won anything big in QL? No. Abso? No. eden? No. zsx? No. As for me k1ck and zigi both are top tdm teams consisting of very skilled but not PRO players. But u thinks that k1ck players better then zigi's players, u are wrong.

I don't think being a douche to the players by saying you were disappointed with how good they are is "helping the community." It's really actually the opposite. You are quite arrogant and talk shit with literally no accolades yourself.

The point of commentating isn't to show how much (or how little) you know about the game. It's about trying to make the game more enjoyable for spectators. You would do well to think on that a bit.

I get your point, but i won't out right lie or let a mistake that is consistantly happening over 2 maps, go overlooked because i should, in your or frozens oppinion, give he or she more respect.

I have no personal grudge about any player, each players slate is wiped clean after the match in question. But i will build upon things that crop up over and over again in any match. In todays game it was guard's quads - he was clearly the key player, his players would let him take armors and drop him weapons, yet he still lacked that quad attack in him (which he began to rectify by the end of dm7). I expected more from him being the dueler he is, and he will agree with me i guarantee. Care to prove me wrong? I can't imagine he will take it personally. It's meant as constructive critism for the viewers on the player i'm watchings POV.

That's not an attack on him, he is clearly a great player, but he didn't time quad as well as we both know he can, and that is fact.

That (in my oppinion) is much more critical to a good shoutcast than by simply calling play by play movement around a map? That's what the majority of other teams do and i find it quite boring, i'm here to have fun afterall.

But i'll take all of what you've said and try and improve our stream.

I find it amusing that you are harping on a duel player for missing quad. Quad is not present in duel, and thus expecting a duel player to have perfect timing on it is quite funny. Not to mention that TDM stands for Team Death Match, and timing is part of the team concept, so maybe you should have stated there was a team problem (e.g., lack of practice, lack of TDM experience, etc) as opposed to singling out a player for no reason.

The amount of hedging in your post is quite funny too, as there's no need to wipe any slate clean or whatever you want to do. You should just call the game as you see it, using any ancillary information to make the game more enjoyable. You also are trying to narrow the context of your bashing to one specific case, when everyone who's seen you cast knows that this is not even close to the truth. You can't go a single map without trying to make yourself feel better by pointing out mistakes by players, it's quite unflattering of you actually.

As to the guard situation I don't have to prove you wrong, and if I were him I'd stay out of this because I wouldn't bother with a tool like you talking shit about how I played. You are nothing more than an arm chair quarterback explaining what you believe to be the finer points of TDM in a condescending way.

Finally your false dichotomy of "I can either be a douche or call play by play" shows you lack any kind of communication skill that would make you a good face of an organization, as anyone with half a brain can see that a simple third option is to tone down how much of a douche you are to the players and just comment on what you're seeing in a more positive tone. No one is asking you to lie (and that statement alone shows how little tact you have), merely to try to explain things in an adult way.

While trying to commentate matches is a noble goal, you need to take this responsibility to heart. You can't go around bashing people as it makes the community look bad, while the point of the broadcast is to make the community stronger. As for guard, yes disrepute mentioned all of that about the whole teamplay scenario, i just went further into it by saying guard, being the most notible player on that team, should have been setting an example by going to quad, especially as his teammates gave him alot of items. As a dueler his timing should be great, and as he is playing for his nation, i'm sure he knew quad is every 2 minutes. Is an item every 2 minutes so hard to time? MH on T4 was every 2 minutes. So what i was saying was that the game on quads, wasn't individually, his greatest. So yes, i made that, because of my personal oppinion on the matter, aware for everybody viewing the stream. Everybody knows i rate guard as a player, does that mean i can't point out the obvious because he's good? As i said to frozen, i could just take the "OMG AMAZING PLAYER BY X PLAYER, LOSING THE QUAD BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE HE'S AWESOME APPROACH" - but what's the fun in that? Don't take that literally, it's an extreme example of my point. Yes i am too critical at times.

Finally, by the "slate being wiped clean" - you seem to agree but yet not understand that statement anyway so you might aswell give that one a rest, it's about taking every game individually as it comes, exactly what you said.

But in the end, as i keep saying, i get what you're saying - and yes i will address those issues, which are for the most part about my own personal oppinions on a current players performance conflicting too much with my cast.

There are many duel players who take a while to adapt to TDM, and some never do. Also stating his timing SHOULD be great is a complete non sequitor, as different duelers time differently. Can you tell me what guard's strengths and weaknesses are? Can you rate guard's timing on a scale of 1-10? Why do you rate it that way? If you can't then why are you extrapolating it to TDM?

I don't understand why you would wipe the slate clean is my point. You should use all available information to assess the quality of a game when shoutcasting, if that's previous games then so be it. There is no slate to wipe clean, as that's valuable data about a player you should be using. My point is merely that you don't have to troll the player who're playing is all.

In the end it's one thing being critical, but your examples show that you are missing the point. It's about tact in your casting. Saying quad runs are "boring," players are "bad" and a "stealer stealing stealer" just shows a juvenile approach to casting. You need to try to be more understanding of the game, and basically change how you view the situations. Your current world view is just very narrow minded, and you would do well to widen it a bit.

I played like 8 netto days, since the beginning of QL, I doubt any of the fnatic players, played less than 8 days. You should check these informations in QL player profiles, before making such a statement . Anyway, I like your southcastings, It's easier for a spectator to point out mistakes, and the southcaster's job to mention them, you also have a good tactical view and a nice organ (which is important in my view). On the other hand sometimes you stick too hard to your own tactics, and you don't notice that a tactical move, could turn out good, despite, it looks wrong to you. You are also too partial with the better team/players, and you have a lack of knowledge of the q3 scene. You can improve these things, and become better, you just have to get rid of annoying and harsh comments. I appreciate your work for the community, and I believe you could become a great caster, if you drop these things. Regards: dash

Boy am I glad my microphone didnt work because of some dumb setting that kept setting its volume to 0 when changing program focus. Just imagine the sheer amount of replies to bash me into the ground (be it for lack of tdm knowledge or not having a sexy voice or whatever) :x

I have no clue about player skills and tdm casting whatsoever so I just streamed and normally stay muted, but nvc willing to do some casting was cool I thought.

Then to see him getting bashes for noticing what he sees happening, or that perhaps a more negative than positive/constructive casting was done... pfew :s We're all people here, and of course he's a little biased towards k1ck, but tbh, I saw the 3 games too, from pov of just 1 player, we can't see through all their eyes at the same time to understand exactly what's going on, which is the same view that we stream.

I can only say the following: please! if think you know TDM on a level of casting that would be superduper, present yourself to us streamers and go for it for a game or 2. Who knows, you might like it and perhaps some cool conversations may happen, and existing casters may learn a thing or two as well!

After all, we're here to do the community a favor, it's not our daily job or anything...

regarding that comment about the playerswitching, well, it's something i told myself already to use a full keyboard and remap the KP_ keys to the player ids and write down who's who on paper, for nicer switching, before the game starts. So yeah I'll try to work on that.

Personally, I prefer no casting at all.
The quality (content and sound) of the usual castings is very low in my opinion and and I usually turn off the videostream as soon as I hear nvcs, slashers, etc voice.
2GD and Joe are better, they use professional equipment and sometimes 2GD provides interesting insights into the game. 75% of the time they talk though, they add nothing to the game and should rather be quiet.
I really enjoyed the holyshit casts, when someone only gave short infos about the game afterwards.

Shoutcasting is great for newbies, but I dont think experienced players really need it.
If there is an easy way to set up a second stream without the casting, I think many would appreciate it.

tbh, I thought todays cast was quite ok. One of you guys has a really bad microphone, there was a lot of rattling.

Was the first time I could get the stream to work (my fault most likely) and I enjoyed it. One voice had a little too low volume though. And I liked the free float cam in between. Keep it going:) (still wish id would implement gtv or gtv with commentary embedded though)
