indeed, the exchange rate atm (the euro appreciates against the dollar by 40% is quite nice) but you still need some money to survive. i mean, i wonder how much you have to play if you need to pay the bills for your house, car and food. i assume u need more than 1000 dollar?
Sure, life has more expenses, but if he does own a house (isn't clear in the interview) rent isn't a factor.Generally people say they "own" a house because they've got a mortgage on it and are paying for it - it doesn't usually imply that they own it outright.
3.19.1 Leaving During the Intel Extreme Masters Season
If a team leaves the tournament during the online season, and the organization of this team fields a team from the
same country for the forthcoming season, the organization will be penalized with one (1) major penalty point in the
new season. Special bars, suspensions, or similar sanctions may also come into effect, according to what the
tournament administration sees fit.
lol hnns, I already gave you a link to the rules a way back.
Why do you still insist you know them despite obviously never having read them?
Yeah it sucks that stermy's problems couldn't be fixed but seeing how all other players didn't have those problems, it seems kinda weird to blame it all on the ESL staff instead of dividing it between them and stermy.
/edit: And stermy himself does acknowledge in this interview that it was not only the ESL's fault.
Also, I do like stermy in general, but he repeatedly said he wants to be a professional gamer and live off gaming.
Can a proffessional in any job just stop working whenever he doesn't feel right and expect there won't be any consequences? I don't think so.
If he want to be a casual gamer, then yes I agree then should have let him drop the matches. But if he really wants to do treat it like a job, he should start to accept what having a job means.

Well that's a neat guideline: "If a player is having problems with the tournament but all others players are fine, the blame shall be divided evenly between said player and the organizers, irrespective of the problem at hand." That's nice but it doesn't have any practical value; meaningless logic.
No he doesn't. In saying the issue might have been due to his configurations doesn't mean it was his fault. This wasn't a BYOC tournament; ESL are responsible for their own hardware
Because he didn't feel right? This wasn't an issue of him having a headache as you mockingly make it sound but a day of delay followed by playing conditions no professional gamer can play under. As usual your anology is rubbish for rather obvious reasons, a poor pitch affects all players evenly so there's no advantage to the other team.
they can be barred according to what they see fit. Whether you personally disagree with that rule has nothing to do with the fact that it is in there.
this one made me laugh, first you say that is was a simple software problem, not the ESL admins are responsible for the hardware :P If you think for a minute or so you might realize that is stermy had brought a config and hardware that is exactly like that of the other players, he wouldn't have had the problems. Noone there seems to knows the exact cause. Except for you apparantly.
I also find it hilarious that you think you know better than all the players who tried their luck solving the issue, yet you classify it as "trivial". lol.
As usual my analogies get discarded because people are unable to think about it for half a minute.
But if you prefer, imagine one player's shoes fall apart and noone, not even the organizers who have caretakers can find the replacements. So now he has to use a bigger size. It's down to the coach's decicion whether he plays or not.
But as I said before, he isn't supposed to play depending on whether he has a chance to win, he is supposed to play because he gets paid to do it and wants to get paid in the future.
Oh well, I'll just leave you to your biased anti-esl rant, now. I just didn't want to let your accusations stand uncommented. You're always quick to defend the ESL no matter how wrong they are and how wrong that in turn makes you.
You're wrong on both accounts, there's a limit to how shitty a condition tournament organizers can provide for their players for them to not legitimatelly forfeit the tournament.
This isn't about what I can do or what you can do, it's about a self proclaimed world championship LAN providing your contestants with adequate staff
Where the hell are the ESL supposed to find "adequate staff" (except for Iceland obviously) for those config+hardware issues if even the pro players can't solve the problem?
I am also convinced that if the ESL had not allowed the players to see if they can fix it, you would no call them idiots for not letting them try.

Wow, his lessons must be bringing in some nice profits as I don't recall him winning any prize money lately.. ;-)
