the story isn't actually that generic when you think about it,it could have been a lot worse :)
But i agree it all boils down to gameplay,,../fingerscrossed
The plot is set 20 years before the first, you play some guy who had some sort of "first" generation mech augmentations added.
I'm not sure what to think really though, the trailers are being made by Square Enix but the game itself is being made by Eidos Montreal so it could all just be a case of those Final Fantasy morons being given some concept art and a description and being told to make some cool trailers.
Now all I need is a fix for the original Deus Ex. I'm half way through the game but since I upgraded to quad core it tries to run at like 2-5x the regular speed for some reason, randomly speeding up and slowing down.
Not a single original developer is working on this, don't get your hopes up.
They've already fallen into the whole "past tech is more advanced than the near future" despite the future having no evidence of this having been the case and having vastly superior technology itself issue.
Also a whole load of the features in it sound ridiculous and will break "proper" Deus Ex game mechanics (Regenerating Health ala CoD etc, not the augmentation).
There was an augmentation in the original for just that purpose (How are they going to explain this and it make sense in the fiction?).
An RPG is all about choices, regenerating health on everyone reduces the choices available and it becomes just a little more shooter like (They used this approach to many of Invisible Wars changes, we've been here before and that approach didn't work).
Their reasoning for it was terrible too... it was so you didn't have to search for medkits and to reduce the time between action sequences.
This misses the whole point of Deus Ex, which is extremely worrying and I expect it to be closer to a Bioshock-style "clever" shooter than a proper Deus Ex.
I don't understand what you mean by stamina, neither Deus Ex had that?
regenerating health is only retarded when games take only 3secs to give you back max health, minimum health regen time should at least be 5mins, which you would hardly notice
being able to have a little break and make a cuppa and have a smoke with your health ticking up slowly is a good thing sometimes
From the very first news about HR it seems that the game will be more an action title than an rpg shooter. It'd certainly be naive to expect another DX1, it's going to be a completely new game, after all. Even the colour scheme is different than in DX1, which is most annoying for me. So, we'll see how it goes. It will be a new game, the Eidos guys will give it their own spin. I just hope that it will be a good one.
It din't have stamina, but what it did have was that speed running augmentation and the batteries would run out after u run for a certain distance.
Almost an equivalent i think.
Yeah, thats correct, but what i meant was that if you chose the speed augmentation, that worked pretty much in the same way as stamina, with the difference being that u can choose to not use it or not have it installed at all.
To be honest though, i'll totally agree with you on not liking stamina, its just games trying to add a little bit of fake realism and it totally turns me off.
