Since battleforged and aero are in duel map pools, they must be good, atleast by some stantards.. but it would be more intresting to hear about phrantic, hektik and dismemberment.

What do you guys think about those three maps? if some of the "professionals" could tell a bit of their insights of those maps i would appreciate it a LOT.

Also, is the five map pool from quakecon going to be "finale" for the next year coming or is it to be expected to add hektik and phrantic to it in somepoint?

All I remember from dismemberment was that it was ok and balanced, but not particularly interesting. I didn't play it a lot though.

i've always liked dismemberment, and hektik makes a really good first impression

the maps arent too bad. played all of them, and they were fun in FT/CA/TDM/duel etc.

i just dont like hub/aero... its meant for cpma, and even though its modded in such a way that it caters to vq3 movement, it will always be a cpma map...

I think the map is good, but too predictable. It needs to be more dynamic. A player can have full control, but a good defensive player can foresee rushes. It's also difficult to to trap on this map as well as items aren't really in a "bait" format. Minutes upon minutes can go by where the person in control can keep control and it's difficult to break, but it can be extremely hard to close in on a frag with the way the portals are and how YAs are at a moderate distance from the more important items, making it tough to try and collect a YA as well as MH and RA.

I think two things should be tried:

1) The center YA teleporter should go to a different location than directly above. It should go behind RL (on the corner between RL and RA). He should also port facing the RL and be viewable from RA. This has interesting implications I think.

- If a person is out of control trying to be defensive collecting yellows, and is collecting the Center yellow, he cannot simply port and be free from the enemy who is presumably on RL ledge. This encourages a dynamic situation. If the person teleporting is quick and the opponent is not on his heals, the person who may have been out of control can port, connect with a rocket, and be in position for red (or even commit for a frag). This makes it more realistic to run important items since porting makes the opponent potentially vulnerable instead of safely backpedaling through the center YA teleport.

2) The bars that view the RA area should be taken down. It's a pretty boring cutoff point in my opinion. Simply taking the bars completely down may work, giving the opportunity to maybe speed jump to RA or rocket jump from RA toward the 50 bubble. Maybe could be a cool trick jump opportunity with some small pieces that stick out of the wall or something. I don't know, it just seems like RA is too secure because of the long distance between RL hallway and RA, the jump pad from below, and the bars from the upper side. So despite being multiple ways to get there, not enough action is taking place. Maybe enough action would be taking place, however, if suggestion #1 was implemented.

I think both these things would make the map way more interesting and dynamic. It could potentially be a GREAT map, as right now it's pretty good. Maybe both of these implementations would be too much, but one could be ideal. I think it's worth trying!

Phrantic COULD be good with some changes:

- Replace railgun with LG
- Replace LG with RL
- Replace RL (at the YA) with SG
- Remove bottom SG
- Add mega in front of the teleport (every 2 minutes)
- Remove the green pipelines and replace it with something that goes faster.

I really don't think people are giving this map a chance... the changes play really well actually. It feels like the map was 'missing' railgun now

meh, black cathedral is like a ra3 map scaled twice as large, its retarded, stupid, has no gameplay besides 'follow all ur teammates and go in for a rail duel with the other team' worth a 4/10. (4 for the effort)

coldwar is pretty good cept its a bit white so i had to change all my xhair colors to red for it. 8/10

pld some leviathan in FT and it was alright. 8/10 (but not really sure yet)

5on5 can be nice on black cathedral, and also, since the hitboxes are smaller and the rail is "only" 80dmg, it's different than ra3.

They all inactive. Ash plays sometimes. also b100 is from Ekaterenburg, and they can't have good ping to Europe, so they prolly don't see any reasons to start playing QL.

i liked hektik playing 2v2, but havent played much

Most new maps are fine. I can't really enjoy focal point in anything but 2on2 CA though. Hektik is great for duel and good for a very casual 2on2 TDM. Phrantic plays good. Stonekeep certainly does not look good but plays really cool - also it has some performance issues. Realm of steel rats looks freaking bad...Dreadul place is good for tdm - same goes for leviathan.

Also Black Cathedral is the godliest map ever.

both purgatory and leviathan have potential for sure, after testing them out for a bit, all 3 "old-new" q3 maps are good and h opefully we can finally get rid of dm6 in tdm map pool :D

it made the map much, much better. now its gonna go back to ra cess again.

Of course since obviously we are completely ignoring the smaller hitboxes / the lower rail dmg and strong sg/rl compared to vq3, im sure those won't make an impact.

If two teams wan't to play cess then ofcourse its gonna happen but not cessing is also a viable option in QL and not an instant loss like in vq3.

i remember losing a tdm game (yeah, 4o4) on cpm4 26:28, so score is not a map-dependent issue :>

Played a few games on Battleforged and Hektik. The first took me a while to get the map layout because of the size whereas the latter seemed to only take a couple minutes. Feels like a new hub though it seems pretty easy to lock down with the openness of the main room and the 2 major items being right on top of one another. There is a lot of potential there I think though.

Phrantic I couldn't care less about and haven't played any other mode besides duel since update.

I can't wait to see the new duel maps in action. They look like they will make for a variety of different playstyles.

Tried all duel and tdm maps. Everyone one of them seems to be more or less playable/good. The only map I have small doubts about is leviathan. However it's still after 2 tries better and more enjoyable than dm6 will ever be in QL TDM :) Dm6 was a awesome map for TDM 5-10 years ago for Q3-OSP. Not anymore please!
