I see nothing wrong with that map pool. If the maps are good and deliver good games, what's the problem? Some games have been using the same map pool for a decade and still draw in huge spectator numbers


Battleforged I thought was a good map to watch when both players weren't clueless, but the problem was that people were whining and didn't want to practice the damn thing... So what's the point in having it in the map pool if only a handful of games on that map are decent?

Hektik is the Blip map of QL.

And instead of t9 or battleforged we are given t4(rofl) and dismemberment.

If you see nothing wrong in this then perhaps you should try playing the game instead of just watching.

T4 always gives sexy games and dismemberment has been played before, but nowhere near the same amount of dm6 or whatever. It's still 'basically' a new map.

It's easy to choose what maps are better for quake.
The ones in wich aim (hitscan aim) makes less difference.
'Cause if u like maps rail/shaft domined, only aim no brain, counter strike or COD is better for you.
Many nice designed old maps have been ruined by the improvements of the aim during times, and are nowadays almost unplayable at high levels.
I now why some new maps are so liked by some, and some older not: because the less the tactics part, the better, the more fluid/ dinamic the action....... and the more POOR.
Only because some maps are easier to spectate, it doesn't means they are overall better.

bf hektik t7 ztn hub is definetely a better idea.

I'm satisfied with this map pool, I'd dare to say it's best quake map pool since years. Perfect would be (at least for me):

Aerowalk (super fast map)
Hektik (as above)
Blood Run (slow map)
Lost World (slow map, no rail)
House of Decay (fast map, no rail)
+ something completely new

OR

5 completely new quality maps (+ aero hihi ^^), which won't happen in years as we know. I wouldn't like to play new maps only because they're new. Quality is what we should aim for.

Haven't played Dismemberment much, so I don't know how it works in QL. I don't like T7 but that's a personal opinion, maybe it's a good map after all :}

T4 was always a boring railfest for me, I don't really enjoy playing and watching it.

I think House of Decay is awesome (and players seems to like it as well), the only major flaw is the so called 'teleporter game', dunno how it could be fixed though.

so all your mappool need is is a combination of slow and fast, without LG. aka T4!

dismemberment is crap

I dont get all the t4 hate for no reason whatsoever, this map pool is decent and should deliver good games, also I prefer smaller fast paced style duel maps than a gigantic layout where one dude disappears after spawn fragging for a while and then never shows up for the rest of the match, and finally takes control back after a massive +back/chase sequence.

fuck duel it should switch to some teammode like 2v2 much more animo for that :)

yeah, and 3/4 games are over in about 5-10 mins and it's VERY often one sided - 2v2 isn't spectator friendly imho. Some games are awesome, yes, however most of them are boring due to the fact that one team is owning the other, even if good players are in.

I don't know about more defensive, but I think it will be really +backy. I've only played it a couple times though. I'm cool with 7 maps if they've been tested and the players have been asked/polled.

Until I see the pros play I will have to say that Hektik is a bad map. The formula for that map is:
Get a frag = control for 5minutes.

T4 - Ok, this map will bring some good games so I'm fine with it. Should make it more Q3 like in structure though IMO.

t9 is crap, well, it's not as crap as dm13, but still. i won't write an essay there once again to explain why, just trust me, t9 is average quality map.

i like dm6, because it's an aim map, and in fact it's quite random cuz of only 1 YA etc... I like the fact that there's quite a lot of movement around the map, you can move fast over long distances or play just like sam fisher, it's nice, etc etc... and when top players play campgrounds, it's almost always entertaining (remember cypher vs cooller, cooller vs strenx, cypher vs strenx, cypher vs dahang (2x air rox ftw), rapha vs cooller ?)
but still, it's time to remove maps like lost world (dm13), vertical vengence (t4) and campgrounds (dm6) from the duel mappool. it's time to get rid of old and overplayed duel maps. Only aerowalk and blood run have to stay.

and about battleforged, pros need to play it more, atm it's like 50% good games on it, 50% crap games.

Czm's game vs Ziel yesterday(or today im not an american) clearly shows that without aim you cant really be successful :) he timed every armor and had full mapcontrol but he still lost.So i agree with you here,no amount of brain/tactics can get you all the way if you dont have the aim.

Well I don't have competitive play experience so I cannot say which would be better, but IMHO we should already be able to do whichever we please without any drawbacks.
