In general mousepad reviews don't help me much, I have to use them myself.
If their pads would be available in Europe I would most likely allready have bought them. :D

The usuall things:

Do they feel like quality.
Overall glide/friction and Start/Stop resistance in general and compared to other popular pads
tracking with various mice (the most used and the "problematic" ones)
LOD of various mice which are known for a little bit high LOD

How does it actually feel when you rest your hand on it? Is it soft, or not?

How does the backside look like?

What is the difference between S and L in terms of gliding?

Can you clean them well i.e. can you put them into the wash machine.

Measurements (probably an easy question to answer - however, in relation to others obviously!

Durability? I've been using my fat-pad for over 6 years now (or whenever it was released)

The thing that annoys me the most is the change in feel over time. The QCK has the most perfect feeling the first few weeks, but then it fades away. I read that Steelseries coat the QCK with a material that makes the mouse glide, and it's this coating that gets worn out. I also get extremely annoyed if the feel changes a lot for the worse, just by washing it in hot water and perhaps some soap. I washed a QCK+ after ~6 month when it was pretty crappy compared to a new one, but washing it only made it worse. I have a talent now going somewhat strong since February. The feel on it should remain the same when you wash it, even if you use a dish washer, and make it feel like new again. I have my doubts but we'll see in some time :)

yeah, in terms of durability the qck mats are some of the worst clothpads on market. did you try the everglide titan? out of the box its one of the slowest pads you can get (or got, i think everglide is out of business!?!). Its glide/friction level is very stable :)

direct comparison with a qck heavy, new and used.
There are only 2 things I really dislike about this mousepad: size and logo feeling (that's why I don't use a qck mass. You can't use that area at all)

1. Don't review the box that it comes in, what I see all the other reviewers doing.
(I saw one guy review the box for 3 minutes and only reviewed the actually product for 2 )
because I have no interest in the box at all, i'm only going to look at it for a couple of seconds then throw it in the bin

2. Don't review the product on it's looks, one I don't care what it looks like if it good product, two I can see what it looks like on google I don't the reviewer telling me if it looks good or not I will make my mind up about that.

3.If their is something wrong with the product tell us don't hide it from us and ass lick the company in the hope they will sent you more product's by giving all the products 80%+ score, if it's rubbish tell us.

4.Performance, Durability and cost if you think it's over priced or not.

You can test the static friction by putting some solid board under the pad and lifting one of the sides, and measure at what height your mouse starts gliding, so that you get a relatively objective way to compare the glide between pads.

The idea is to compare different pads with the same mouse.

ye I understood, but I am positive that the mouse would start gliding sooner due to good glides with less resistance than the same mouse with bad ones.

Also, dunno if you remember our talk, but since then I got another mouse (the Intellimouse Optical) and applied Hyperglides to both of them : P Also I have got a Puretrak Talent. Still, you were right about prediction. I definitely aim better with prediction in ET than without : ) So the MX518 stays the best mouse I have for ET.

PS. I was right when saying that less resistance due to aplying Hyperglides instead of those awful plastic feet will come in pair with better performance in aiming, but I still am able to perform better in ET with the MX518.

Yes and ? having hyperglides or not would probably not change the results about a pad having lower static friction than the other. Yes you will have better results with them, but the pad order should remain the same. Unless some surprise with a pad performing differently with a certain set of feet but I think it is very unlikely.

Anyway the point is to test a maximum of different setups (mice/pads/feet) to get a lot of data :)

So it would only be good for a comparison, to get something objective you'd have to factor in the weight of the mouse + specify mouse feet used. Well I guess you'd have to test a bunch of pads anyways to provide any useful data.

Does it bend? What is the thickness? Some idea of the static friction is important, ie. how much pressure you have to put on the mouse before it begins to move vs. other pads.

Where can you get this in Europe? Amazon shipping is horribly inflated (40 for the mousepad, 50 for shipping; WTF!?)

-A high quality camera is ideal for any good review, especially to get a closeup of the surface material.
-Maybe a little background on the company and the pad, it's dimensions, materials, weave, fabrication method, how this model differs from the rest of their lineup, etc.
-Don't spend more than 10 seconds on the packaging at most. It's nice if it comes with a nicely designed package but that's hardly relevant to a review.
-Pan a side view of the pad so we can see the thickness and material layers, density of it. Place other pads on top or beside it to better get an idea of thickness compared to other well known pads.
-Glide the mouse around just by pushing it with your fingers, describe it's frictional feel as best you can as this is one of the most important properties. Comparing it to other well known pads like the QcK or better yet Talent and how you view it as superior is going to help make a case for people perhaps buying one.
-Show the base of the pad. Show how well it holds or doesn't hold in place.
-Maybe use more than one mouse as and example of how each one glides.
-Details about the compatibility issues with different mice
-Where (and when) can you buy these pads? Do they have distributors in the USA?

Atleast goliathus speed doesn't have equal glide (glides better sideways than up/down) :( That's why i'm now going to buy roccat taito.

Why don't you get the puretrak talent instead ? It looks like a much better choice on paper.

Well because I could buy Taito straight from the shop here. Didn't want to wait for ordering Talent from internet.

I have also heard some good experiences of this Taito and it was only 16euros! So far first impression is really great but will see how this starts to wear out. A lot better glide/feel than goliathus speed atleast.

Dammit, a friend of mine went to Japan and I told him to bring me a certain mouse but I totally forgot about the Artisan Pads. :(

How does it compare to a Talent pad feel and durability/longevity wise.

I own a Talent and have two differnt Artison 3g pads coming in the mail. It's hard to give you a good answer without having owned the Artisan long enough but I will do my best to describe the intitial feel/durability impression. The Talent has held up well in the last 6+ months of ownership, though it is fraying on the front and I've had to wash it one time from grease build up that was causing surface friction uniformity issues.

Mmkay. My talent pad is also getting "old" when comparing to the longevity of other cloth pads such as QcK. I have only washed this once, but I plan on doing it never again because my previous Talent didn't feel that smooth at all after washing it 3-4 times. An awesome pad but one thing I have learned that I have to use accel due to the slowliness of the surface. Fortunately the slowliness is consistent so it doesn't feel like a textured cloth pad that has a worn spot on it.

I agree the Talent has shown its limits in terms of durability. It is pretty much on par with the Razer Mantis speed because essentially like many other cloths except the Zowie Spawn GT-F there is no outer stitching. I have owned the Talent since March of this year, using it almost every day. 6 months of use and the front has started to peel back already.

I've been in discussions with them and they are sending me 2 different new pads which are pre mass production to do testing and review on so shipping and cost were free.
