Hektik is really fun, though the other side of the map, where GA -> RG and second RL is, is completely useless, it's kinda for +backing. Moving from RA to YA takes 1-2 seconds which is also a flaw. I mean it needs some small item tweaking and it's going to be awesome.

Moving GA<-->YA might do the thing, although GA spot is kinda risky :}

Then perhaps instead of mindlessly timing Mega, players have to tactfully acquire the Mega somehow?

I also think it's not such a bad thing to get spammed on your way out with only One Yellow and One Green armor. Whoever picks it up is at a MAJOR advantage without the spam. I mean a huge advantage.

The Rapha CZM game on that map has proven to me (as if I already didn't know) the map is fantastic.

Agreed. Hektik looks like a very interesting map and far more exciting than battleforged. I think there are some balance issues that need to be resolved, namely the dm6-like problem where it's easy to have control over red, yellow, and mega without a problem. I think the green should be replaced with a yellow maybe, cause I do not think the map should remain as it is.

I honestly don't see why they took that spawn out.. It was pretty balanced if you ask me. You spawn GL, your opponent either rl ya, lg, or shotgun. Either way, if you react good enough and make a good decision, you still get an item. Worst spawn is: One spawns LG and the other RL YA..

Yeah and that wasnt the only time. They just dont know anything about the game. And one of them is actually sitting and just saying everything thats happening... like "x picked up the Rocket Launcher and fires some spam rockets"... i mean... YEAH I CAN SEE THAT. And its not that interesting. And they are not funny and they are sitting there and laughing at each others bad jokes.

It was first used by dkt himself when he retired from being a pro while doing an interview about that, which was major news here; and actually then it was used for a second time by him now that he's retiring from lan events, as said today by quake-live.tv casters. Are you serious? That was an awful game. Dkt rushes and spawnrapes for 5 minutes, then loses control and keeps rushing until Z4 wins. Like watching two low-level amateurs with half-decent aim.

Haha like zero4 could win a big tournament in his current shape. Stermy, cypher, cooller, k1llsen, av3k, spartie and strenx are all at least one level above him. I was impressed by his hektik play vs dkt but his timing and positioning was meh from what I have seen. Don't get me wrong he is good but not anywhere near at the top5. Imo dahang did quite well at the last tournaments I think he always placed top6 or something. We will see at the lan finals who will place 2nd after rapha :P.

having a low value for mouseaccel doesnt translate into having low accel, just like you cant do that for sensitivity.
for example: i had 0.1 in the past, updates my mouse firmware and somehow 0.05 is higher now than 0.1 was before.

wp comeback by ZeRo4. It's not often you see comebacks like that anymore. I think his blade is starting to look sharp. Not quite yet the samurai sword he had before, but getting there. DKT just needs to stay focused and be more careful at times. It seemed to me he played more careless after taking such a huge lead, and the turn of the match starting with him pushing out to fight z4's lg in mid with distance rockets and a lesser stack. ZeRo4 wins the fight pretty easily then continues to play at a HEKTIC pace, while dkt seemed to not quite have as much pep in his step towards the end.

Yep, I meant gameplay-wise, of course. ;)

Imo, it feels similiar to phrantic because there's this constant upper level vs. lower level situation. Also, phrantic's RA area and hektik's MH area are comparable because the player in control doesn't really have to go for it and can instead rely on dealing damage when his opponent tries to leave.

But I've only seen zero4 vs dkt, dunno if this was a 'typical' hektik match.

These guys, rapha excluded, need 6 more months of hard training to tople over cypher and av3k, coller, killsen, stermy, strenx.

If you will, draw a parallel between fox and czm, z4, even Vo0.
Oldschool, but lacking compared to current top of ql.

That doesn't say anything about what will happen, just that chances are slim :)

about a month back noone wouldve included killsen in that list. so its really stupid to say things like - o no they wont make it to the top 5 in an international tournament. u never know.

k1llsen got 2nd at eswc and won against cypher in european championship on 2010 groupstage(cypher won that).
He was never a really dedicated quake live player till recently(he has kids,wife etc).
czm hasn't won against a good player(rapha destroyed him and he is the only good na player) neither has z4(this year).
So other then rapha and MAYBE dahang(but he has been playing bad recently...), i don't see any NA except rapha getting top 3 at any international lan tournament where all the good players are there.

Vo0 is from netherlands so he doesn't count as a American.

About a month ago killsen wouldn't even show for a tournament :)
Killsen is exception that brakes the rules, like any good player. All i noticed that if they don't push their game further, they are gonna get stuffed.

czm vs sparks ping math comes to mind, since not that far back ago I remember cypher kicking a few players on a zotac cup with 90 ping :)

now that what I'm talking about.

bootcamp vs eu players is needed so the NA players that are getting wind beneath their wings could do something against eu players.

and again rapha, dahang excluded.

Nah, because it's pronounced as a word ('caesium' with a stressed 'em' as the last syllable). Whereas ztn is just a string of discrete letters.

(I'm not British, but we say 'zed' here, and spell colour with a U, etc.)

Never knew that, I thought it was short for caesium. Not sure why then, maybe it just flows together better? Either way, I treat ztn as letters and czm as sort of word-like, so I say 'zed' in one case and 'zee' in the other.

Also, maybe we treat it differently when it's a person's name. (I know ztn is probably the name of the guy who made the map, but to me it's just a map name.)

If I met a guy named Ben Zorrow, and he said 'but you can call me Bee Zee', I wouldn't call him Bee Zed. But if there was a company called Boston Zinc, I reckon I'd call it Bee Zed even if the head of the company said Bee Zee.

lol its funny how bad some of these guys look compared to the top euros... only rapha and zero4 if he bothered to not charge into people, which i guess he will continue to do becuase he doesnt give a fuck anymore and just plays for fun, czm playing so bad makes me a sad man aswell, american scene is boring :(
