I never said they wanted to get rich. But actually you're right, even to "make some dollars" the whole thing is completly fucked up now (maybe they had better hopes some years ago) and the only hypothesis here is that they use it as a laboratory where we are the rats . But again, I can't be clearer than this :

Do we really have to continue this argument ? Do I have to explain why t5 is like the last priority to implement in this game among another million of thing or why we have to pay to play on an original q3 map (why every original q3 weren't in ql in the first place ) ?



I mean, I'm not against ql, I play on a regular basis (wont suscribe though). From the rats point of vue, the experiment is enjoyable. I have to satisfy my lowest instincts. Somehow, I feel better knowing that the dealer satisfaying my lowest instincts is an asshole. (yea, its a gay joke, I hope you can rely to it)

i very much doubt that they have made a single penny out of ql so far...
and if they would be able to make money with it, the pace of development would be a lot faster

If they wouldn't have wasted 2 years doing almost nothing, they could have saved lots of money and could have started the subscription options much sooner. So who's to blame here?

because then id would have to give credit to someone else for doing the work they're supposed to be doing. Hence why they're notorious for sending out cease and desist letters to stymie the competition and to allow them a couple years to copy that persons work.

Wasn't there already a couple things that id/Bethesda put the kibosh on? I think the QL demo viewer and someone also came up with a way to play quake live offline (not the hacked servers). I thought both of those were stopped?

As for a good example, I'd assume what you mean is one where id really did go and copy someone's work. Well you got me there, as it would require some work on id's part. :)

QL is the experiment and I'd say they have learned their lesson not to try anything like this again.
