i'd go with k1llsen as well, and the earlier inconsistency can be more of a case of getting lucky sometimes, but now he's got his aim settled and a good rhythm going for him.
The bottom line is, if he can deliver a performance (aim and game wise) in dreamhack as he did in gamescon, I don't really think there should be anyone really standing in his way.

I'm basing this on the fact that players like guard madix and agent, find it absolutely impossible to match his game.....there was some zotac game recently where guard was asking k1llsen to not use his "devil rail" lol!!
but even players like av3k are being bested.

I'm not sure, but I think he uses 125 hz online, which does make aiming a lot more consistent. Either way, his rail online is far far far better than his LAN rail (which is still good, just not absurd).

Stermy, i guess, he is a hard opponent for everyone from top4.

I don't think k1llsen will be able to stay in the top. At IEM everyone just considered him a "defwin" opponent and k1llsen took them by surprise. Now that people know he can be a tough opponent, they will just play more carefully with him and won't let him use his railgun much. Even calipt managed to beat k1llsen at the Global Challenge with his careful style of play, so I don't think it would be a problem for any of the other top players.
If anyone's going to get close to top4, it will be strenx or stermy. Spart1e is generally a lower-skill player that has spontaneous "spikes", but they don't last long and DaHang is already getting outstripped by Vo0.

also av3k knew k1llsen was a force to be reckoned with, k1llsen took av3k to 5 maps at last season's european championship final.

Strenx did not have an opportunity to warm up before that match at all and it was obvious that he was playing completely not at his usual level, so it was no surprise that k1llsen won. Nothing indicated that it was because k1llsen played more impressive than usual.
When k1llsen beat av3k, again it looked more like that av3k played so bad, not k1llsen played any good. You just don't expect a player who didn't go past group stage in previous tournaments and pretty convincingly lost to cooller and even calipt, to suddenly become way better just on the next day. Notice, I'm not saying that k1llsen played bad vs strenx or av3k, I'm saying that when people saw those games, first thing that came into their mind was that strenx wasn't warmed up and av3k just had a bad game, not that k1llsen suddenly improved his game. So to find out that he indeed actually improved was a surprise, for rapha too.
Why I don't think that k1llsen has improved enough to fight for the top4 is because in any type of activity I never saw such enormous skill jumps in just one day, and because of that I find it highly improbable.

Oh well didn't know about the strenx situation but IMO gamescom's mappool was better for k1llsen in a best of 5 set than in a best of 3 set because 4 of 5 maps have a rail.
also I think you have to take k1llsens mindset into account in the game against calipt. first of all it was not an IEM game it was an EPS game where pretty much every game except against calipt is a free win for k1llsen, he didn't need to win that game. if he qualifies for the finals as 2nd he won't face calipt in the semis anyway since calipt will probably take first. also it was quite late and gamescom has even been closed AFAIK, k1llsen already thought about his IEM matches the day after.

well thats true, but t4 wasn't in the pool and all other maps in have lg (strenx's strength) which turned out to be a let down as he was constantly out aimed by k1llsen.

I like watching Cypher and k1llsen the most. Av3k is up there but he doesn't have the aim that these 2 have.

Cooller is always a pleasure to watch, especially when hes in the zone. (cypher dm13 game qcon)

He can't be defeated. But its like sonic going super sonic, its hard for him to stay in that top level for very long.

I mean cypher was hitting 100% fucking railgun vs cooller in hub, JUST TO STAY ALIVE. MY GOD, COOLLER CONTROLLING FUCKING REALITY. Cypher stole that qcon.

Anyway, I always like Rapha and Stermy because of their solid plays, only rapha is more inventive which is why he topples cypher and those guys.

I think strenx might be a contender soon. His aim is great, but with this new movement, he should be able to chase people better around the map and just aim whore them. They can't +back fast enough now, so its going to be very fun to spec.

what's the 'new movement' you are talking about?

chain jumping and step height increase. This means people can fly up stairs and do jumps like dm13 into mega without fucking it up (think back how many times people get screwed by that tiny jump into mega, and then they eat 3 rockets cuz they cant get on the platform).

Also means you strafe further since you jump higher each time. Which means rapha is going to have to buy some rollerskates for his character model or else hes fucked.

I'm pretty damn certain that 'stepheight' isn't the same as jump height.

AFAIK you do not get more airtime in this patch, so you cannot accelerate more while strafejumping.

Stepheight only refers to the amount of leeway you're given to stepping up on to the next platform. So certain jumps become easier because if you don't make it clean on to the surface, you still have the opportunity to 'step' on to it when you hit the side.

i think it should be mentioned that stenx has not played ql for quite a bit now because he got a bit tired of it. if he is motivated after his break and keeps improving his braingame he could do really well, but first of all he needs to find the will to get on top again

feels like dahang has somehow hit his skill ceiling, at least it seemed to me like this in his last tournament showings, there seems to be no progress to his game.

spart1e also the potential to be the 5th, but he will not be it cause he has lost his motivation some time ago and nobody will get there without working for it.

Besides, stermy was the first to repeatedly beat rapha, thus breaking his streak of wins while possibly building on cooller's preparatory work in developing strategies against rapha. Especially did stermy change the whole situation also for all the others, mentally speaking, and brought some excitement back into the game. Don't know why we're seeing him in finals that seldom, but I'd sure consider him a potential top contender, where only a last tiny bit seems to be missing I can't tell what it is. Maybe it's, as so often, just confidence.

Stermy has always given Rapha a hard time, they have a style clash.

He's a bit weaker versus the other top players but he is improving for sure.

You're missing the point. Stermy eventually took rapha down from the sky, the final stab being his comparatively easy 2:0 upper bracket win at high prized qcon, a tournament you can trust rapha was extremely keen to win. That paved the way for cooller to kick rapha out of lower brackets pretty much en passant, again 2:0. That finally broke rapha's dominance, especially in people's minds. And stermy played a pivotal part in that.

Cooller has consistently better results than Dahang, and is coming off the toughest Quakecon final ever.
During the late summer, i believe many feel that Cooller and Cypher have been the two best players with Rapha just outside. Rapha didn't win the last 3 international tournaments he participated in.
K1llsen is awsome and i really hope he continues to kick ass. His online dominance after Gamescon has just confirmed that there is a new champion out there.

I would love a more detailed ranking, why not look at a top50 rather than only top12 ?

It's k1llsen. K1llsen is the only one of the bunch that has strong aim on every weapon (besides strenx), but what separates him from strenx is that he has smarts/brain and very good dodging ability.

strenx locks maps better and has an edge in timing 2+ items.
also, strenx rl is teh socks.

but k1llsen is better imho.

Strenx's rockets are really good tbh....he just doesn't like using them. But when he does, he can hang with the top4. His rail is also pretty good.

Strenx is the more proven player, I think we are just seeing the beginning of what k1llsen has to offer at gamecom, and in the upcoming IEM we'll see him maintain that performance.

Stermy, K1llsen and DaHang are the only contenders for that spot as of now. The only downside I see for DaHang is that he's not quick enough on the maps which affects his positioning a lot, unlike the other 2. Despite his loss to Vo0, he's still the better and more conditioned player when it comes to QL.

If Strenx can atleast get a podium finish, it will be a big boost for him. I don't see him taking it from any of these guys at this point though.

When did Dahang lose to Voo?

IEM5 Group stage. Later in the semis though, he lost to DaHang.

Another point to be noted is that DaHang had a 2-0 lead after winning Aerowalk and ZTN, but Vo0 made a comeback with DM13 and Dismemberment. Then again, in the final map, Vo0 was leading 9-5 when DaHang tied it and with 20 seconds remaining in the first overtime, DaHang squeezed in one frag to win it.

His 5th spot on the ladder will depend a lot on the way he plays against particular opponents, who're all trying hard for top3 but will settle if they just sit on #5 for now as a foothold.

Ah, I had only seen the semi match, with Dahang winning 1 frag in OT !_!

The fact that Dahang struggled on LAN to pull the semi final victory irked me a lot, given that the group stage games against vo0 were online. Also, he's had more experience with QL than Vo0.
